THKMC was incorporated on 13 October 2011 as a charity to provide multiple social and welfare services to the community at large, and achieved an Institute of Public Character (IPC) status on 18 November 2011. THKMC is the charitable arm of Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society, which lives by the mission To Serve Mankind to help anyone who needs help regardless of their race, religion, colour, language, creed and culture. THKMC today serves more than 70,000 beneficiaries through more than 70 programmes across five Services, which include Disability, Early Intervention for Children, Family, Seniors' Community, and Therapy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Early Intervention for Children (EIC) Services helps equip children with motor, communication, social, self-help and cognitive skills. THK EIC involves structuring classes around small groups encompassing early childhood special education, social work and therapy support services to stimulate their adaptive functioning and school readiness skills.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist Lead Teacher in classroom and engagement of children
• Conduct small group activities when required e.g. routines such as CIrcle Time
• Assist Lead Teacher in carrying out therapeutic interventions as instructed
• Ensure that students are well supervised during contact time in the centre
• Brainstorm and plan activities to support students' learning
• Preparing teaching resources
• Support students' toileting needs
• Receive and discharge the students before and after classes
• Take class attendance and compute attendance summary
• Conduct health and temperature checks
• Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and conducive learning environment
• Maintain good communication with parents
• Assist in filing of documents
• Attend transdisciplinary team meetings, workshops, in-service training and sharing sessions
• Any other duties as assigned

• GCE 'N' / 'O' / 'A' Level / NITEC / Higher NITEC in non-related discipline

• Experience working with young children preferred, fresh graduates are welcome to apply
• Patience, and passionate to work with children
• Good communication skills, team player and pro-active

Job Responsibilities

• Plan Individual Education Plans (IEP)/ Individual Transition Plan (ITP), monitor students’ progress and achievements, evaluate students’ learning and prepare progress reports.
• Plan daily lesson plans/ weekly CCA, and teach meaningful lessons (in all areas of curriculum), following the UDL framework to cater to students with different learning needs and abilities.
• Implement appropriate intervention strategies and positive behaviour support to improve students’ behaviours.
• Establish an enriching and safe learning environment(within and beyond own classroom) that enhance student learning.
• Provide support and guidance to Teacher Assistants in the areas of teaching and learning
• Work collaboratively with the IEP Team and family for students’ overall growth, positive student learning and transitions.
• Assist in the coordination of events and committees.
• Share innovative ideas with colleagues at the department level and/or school level
• Coordinate and lead IEP discussion and case conferences
• Participate in Curriculum planning and development.
• Attend meetings, case discussions, home visits and other relevant staff development training
• Perform classroom and committee administrative duties, and submit required documentation timely.

Minimum Education / Qualifications

• Diploma in Special Education from NIE

Minimum Years of Relevant Experience

• At least 1 year of relevant working experience in special needs school

• Teach primary level school students Cambridge curriculum
• Able to teach English, Mathematics, Science, and other non-core areas
• Able to prepare Lesson Plans as per school's goals
• Provide support to management in related areas
• Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and teaching aids relevant to the specific levels
• Prepare differentiated lessons which allows for progression within and across the levels and within the curricula (English, Mathematics & Science)
• Update and review the schemes of learning and resources for the curriculum area
• Develop effective teaching and learning strategies within the curriculum area
• Implement and monitor the quality of teaching and learning of students in the curriculum areas
• Ensure the standards of student attainment, achievement and behaviour within the curriculum areas
• Ensure the successful delivery of the curriculum in a whole-school context and integrate other curriculum where appropriate
• Support the process of Self-Evaluation and development planning within the curriculum areas
• Possess a Bachelor's degree in Education &/or related subject (s)
• Has at least three (3) years of teaching experience
• Experience and familiarity with International education will be helpful
• Experience in mainstream local school would be an added advantage
• A track record of Good or Outstanding teaching
• Evidence of appropriate in-service training
• Experience working in the related field
