Job Description

The Preschool English Language Teacher is responsible for planning and carrying out activities in line with the requirements of the ECDA.

• Immerse yourself in AltSchool’s approach, blending play-responsive methods, Montessori principles, and evidence-based therapies.
• Get up to speed with our policies, procedures, and digital tools, including our school management system and Individualised Education Plans (IEPs).
• Collaborate with and support lead teachers and therapists to implement tailored educational plans and set up classrooms for effective learning.
• Learn to manage behaviours, implement routines, and support children’s progress.
• Assist in documenting daily notes, progress updates, and class preparations to ensure a seamless educational experience.
• Build rapport with families to establish trust and communication channels.

Typical Expectations

• Work closely with lead teachers to manage classroom activities, behaviours, and daily routines.
• Prepare learning materials and adapt activities to meet individual needs.
• Collaborate with therapists and other professionals to address IEP goals.
• Track and document student progress, sharing meaningful insights with the team.
• Actively contribute ideas and solutions to improve classroom practices and team workflows.

Requirements

• A diploma or degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of experience working with children, preferably in a special needs setting.
• Certifications in DIR Floortime or similar methodologies are a plus.
• Strong adaptability, creativity, and an eagerness to embrace challenges.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to thrive in a collaborative, self-managed team environment.
