Primary Objective

Ensure construction projects comply with environmental regulations and minimize environmental impact.

Key Activities

1. Environmental Compliance and Monitoring

• Ensure all construction activities comply with local environmental laws, regulations, and project-specific requirements.
• Monitor site activities to identify potential environmental risks and implement mitigation measures.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure proper implementation of environmental control measures.

2. Waste and Pollution Management

• Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of construction waste materials.
• Implement pollution prevention measures, including noise, dust, and water pollution controls.
• Monitor wastewater discharge and ensure compliance with discharge permits.

3. Environmental Documentation

• Prepare and maintain environmental management plans (EMP), reports, and checklists.
• Submit periodic environmental compliance reports to authorities and project stakeholders.
• Maintain records of environmental incidents and the corrective actions taken.

4. Training and Awareness

• Conduct training sessions for site staff on environmental best practices and compliance requirements.
• Raise awareness among workers about environmental protection and sustainability.

5. Liaison with Authorities and Stakeholders

• Act as the point of contact with environmental authorities and regulatory bodies during inspections or audits.
• Work with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve environmental issues.

6. Incident Response and Risk Mitigation

• Respond to environmental incidents promptly and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct root cause analyses of environmental non-compliance or accidents.

7. Sustainable Practices

• Promote the use of eco-friendly construction materials and techniques.
• Advocate for sustainable practices in resource use, such as energy and water conservation.

8. Reporting and Advising

• Provide regular updates to senior management on environmental performance and areas for improvement.
• Advise on potential environmental risks and recommend preventive measures.

• Ensure compliance with the latest environmental regulations.
• Perform the duties of an Environmental Control Officer in the project works
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure Environmental Control Measures (ECM) and environmental plan in place
• Identify environmental issues and recommend measures to rectify the irregularities.
• Proper documentation of all EHS records, certificates, notice and official related EHS correspondence
• Liaise with the government authorities on all environmental control issues. (MOM, NEA, PUB, etc)

The role of an Environmental Control Officer (ECO) is basically to look out for conditions/ situations in construction sites which cause environmental health problems or are likely to cause environmental health problems. He should report these conditions/ situations to the contractor together with recommendations on remedial measures to be taken to prevent recurrence.

The main areas where the ECO should pay attention to are as follows:

• Disease-bearing insects and rodents
• Proper disposal of construction waste
• Noise, air and dust pollution
• Earth littering
• Siltation of drains
• Food hygiene in canteens
• Any other environmental health matters

The Environmental Analyst is an integral member of the Veterinary Care & Environmental Health department and is responsible for carrying out habitats water sample collection, routine and non-routine water quality analysis, soil, run-off and rainwater bacteriology and air quality surveys. The information gathered is reviewed by various business units to ensure a healthy environment optimal for the animal’s wellbeing, and a safe environment for our staff and guests.

Job Responsibilities

• Collect water samples and perform daily physicochemical analyses from the oceanarium habitats.
• Collect soil, rain and run-off samples and perform physicochemical and microbiology analyses.
• Perform air quality analysis during haze periods.
• Ensure that all instruments, equipment, laboratory fixtures, glassware and general laboratory ware in the Environmental Health laboratory are properly maintained to manufacturer specifications for optimal performance.
• Assist in preparing monthly inventory reports on supplies and reagents.
• Prepare and report all results accurately and in timely manner ensuring all necessary team members are informed.
• Always maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Assist in clinical diagnostic laboratory analysis.
• Assist in medicines preparation.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies or equivalent.
• Adhere to work policies.
• Use of Windows-based MS Office programs including but not limited to word processing (MS Word), spreadsheet (MS Excel), and presentations (MS PowerPoint).
• Familiar with basic laboratory instrumentation purpose and operation.
• Demonstrative ability to perform all analysis.

Cleaning Operations Manager (Commercial and Environmental)

Job Summary:

The Operations Manager (Commercial and Environmental) is responsible for providing the overall direction of the organisation within the guidelines set up by the board of directors or a similar governing body. As a systems thinker, he or she will strategize and directs operational activities and translate organisational goals into achievable steps, anticipates and stays ahead of trends and takes advantage of opportunities. He or She will also mentor the management team as part of succession planning and represents the organisation in meetings with clients, investors and business partners.

He or She is expected to be at our project sites and build relationships with our clients and work closely with the Commercial and Environmental - Operations Executive as part of his role.

- Stocktake and allocating of equipment and/or technologies and supplies to project sites

- Identify and recommend suitable equipment and/or technologies to improve cleaning operations

- Implement maintenance schedules for tools and equipment

- Facilitating in planning of work schedules, deployment of manpower, effective work processes and capability development of staff

8. Manage incidents

- Guide teams to respond to major incidents/emergencies and reporting it to the management

9. Any other tasks as assigned by the reporting officer.

Job Requirements:

- At least 7 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.

- Preferably Managers specializing in Commercial and Environmental or Facilities Management

The Operations Executive (Commercial and Environmental) assists with the management of cleaning operation duties as directed by the manager.
