The Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore (NUS) seeks to appoint one scholar, at the Assistant Professor rank, whose research and teaching engage the field of Feminist Political and/or Economic Geographies in/of Asia, broadly defined. The successful candidate will be affiliated with the Department’s Politics, Economies And Space (PEAS) research group.

While recruitment is not limited to the following topics, we particularly welcome applications from political and economic geographers working on theoretical and empirical issues related to:
• Feminist geopolitics investigating borders, refugees, emotions and nationhood/national identity
• Feminist urban politics (e.g. social movements and gender politics in Asian cities)
• Feminist political ecology including work on gendered environmental rights, knowledge and justice
• Feminist research on labour geographies and global production networks

For candidates who do not have previous experience of researching in/on Asia, it is important to demonstrate evidence of an ability and willingness to develop research projects in/from the region.

Qualifications

In terms of teaching and academic responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to:

a) Contribute to the Department’s internationally recognised research activities;
b) Teach a minimum of two modules per academic year at the undergraduate and/or graduate level;
c) Perform administrative/service duties commensurate with a tenure-track/tenured appointment.

Responsibilities:

• Audit and process all invoices. Ensure all invoices are attached with ERP, POC, and/or other supporting documents, like delivery orders, service reports, work orders, etc. as appropriate and are properly approved department head and general manager for payments before generating computer or manual cheques.
• Prepare prompt and accurate allocations of all accounts payable on a timely basis for posting.
• Make payment of all invoices according to the credit terms granted by the supplier; make prompt payment for those invoices with early bird discounts.
• Check all expenses reports, bank payment requests, cash payment requests or auto-payments to ensure that supporting documents are sufficient.
• Regularly check those Giro payments in bank statements and follow up with the original invoices and prepare necessary payment vouchers for posting of the transactions to Accpac system.
• Prepare payment vouchers and cheques with all supporting documents for approval and signature.
• Liaise and answer all inquiries from trade/other creditors.
• Reconcile suppliers’ monthly statements to the hotels’ accounts payable records and investigate any discrepancy between the two and following up.
• Balance account payable ledger and reconcile with the General Ledger closing balance periodically and at month-end.
• Analyze the monthly A/P Aging Trial Balance and follow up with all abnormalities.

Requirement:

• LCCI / Diploma in accountancy with 1-2 years accounts payable working experience , preferably in in hospitality industry
• Able to work independently with minimum supervision
• Experience with OPERA and Accpac system will be an added advantage;
• Proficient with MS Office Excel and Word
• Working location at Toa Payoh

Job Scope:

• Processing of day-to-day financial transactions accurately and efficiently
• Familiar with retail sales & purchase procurement processes
• Assist in preparation of financial month–end reports
• Collation of data and prepare statistic reports
