About the Division/Dept

The Commercial Distribution Division is responsible for the growth of commercial businesses across multiple channels including Bancassurance, Intermediaries, Direct channels and Partnerships.

It is also responsible for providing holistic, bespoke insurance solutions for its commercial customers, delivering service excellence and increasing market awareness of UOI to achieve customers’ trust and recognition.

Job Purpose

As an Assistant Manager in the Commercial Distribution Division, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to support revenue growth and to achieve customer satisfaction. This includes servicing support to grow new customers, to retain existing customers and to drive transformation process in line with the Company’s objectives.

Main responsibilities

• Assist Division Head to achieve the GWP and underwriting profit budget set by the Company.
• Identify, establish, and nurture partnerships with key stakeholders to promote the sale of insurance products.
• Visitation of clients.
• Strengthening of business relationships with clients.
• Work alongside division to support business underwriting – underwriting of client centric growth and profitability.
• Improving overall business delivery within the underwriting framework in accordance with the Reinsurance Management Framework and treaty guideline.
• Mentor staff and ensure that staff work cohesively as a team.
• Evaluate work procedures and recommend improvements to facilitate operations to always maintain an efficient and cost-effective system of work procedure.
• Undertake any other assignments as allocated by the Division Head and CEO to contribute to the overall corporate objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related discipline.
• Professional insurance qualifications.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in general insurance sales and underwriting.
• Sound understanding of the insurance industry, including regulations and market dynamics.
• Strong sales and negotiation abilities, with proven track record to meet or exceed targets.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships with bank partners and customers.
• Ability to conduct effective training sessions on insurance products.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Driven and self-motivated, can work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Job Scope

1. Order Processing

-Manage and process orders such as Quotations, Sales Orders, Purchases Orders, Delivery Orders, Invoicing/Billing and and other supporting documents such as export documents for overseas customers

-Coordinate production requests between sales team and factory operations

2. Update sales reports and inventory reports

3. Sales support

-Assist Sales Representatives with their queries such as preparation of quotations, presentations slides and samples for customers

-Monitor product availability

-Manage schedules

-Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to sales order processing

1. Assist the Operations Manager in analyzing and improving organisational processes and workflow

2. Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the operational level processes and ensure that the processes are clearly communicated at all levels

· Design and develop comprehensive training programs for domestic helpers, addressing key areas such as health and safety, caregiving, nutrition, hygiene, communication, and work ethics.

· Create training materials, manuals, videos, and online resources that support learning and can be referenced by domestic helpers during their employment.

· Provide training on effective communication skills, helping domestic helpers interact professionally and respectfully with employers and family members.

· Address conflict resolution strategies, teaching domestic helpers how to resolve misunderstandings with employers or other household members respectfully.

· Guide helpers on setting boundaries, managing workloads, and understanding their rights and responsibilities as domestic workers.

· Foster a supportive environment by being available to answer questions, provide advice, and troubleshoot issues domestic helpers may face during their employment.

· Regularly review and update training materials to reflect new trends, best practices, and regulations within the domestic helper industry.

· Incorporate feedback from domestic helpers, employers, and colleagues into training programs for continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITES

• Day-to-day washing, drying, and folding of Residents’ linen including pajamas, bed sheets, blankets, pillowcases, towels etc.
• Check cleaned linen for any defects – put aside for discard by Laundry Supervisor or mend them accordingly e.g., Dropped buttons from resident pajamas.
• Basic daily cleaning and maintaining of laundry machines, chemicals refill and operating of machines.
• Monitor chemical usage and refill.
• Report to management of fault or abnormality found in machines.
• Comply with Safety Linen SOPs.
• Ensure equipment cleanliness at the end of each day and report any irregularities to superior.
• Ensure cleanliness within linens store, laundry room and premises.
• Deliver clean laundry to the wards.
• Assist to liaise with laundry vendor when machine breakdown.
• Any ad-hoc duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Primary School Education
• Physically fit – able to carry heavy loads of 10 – 25kg.
• Able to communicate & write in simple English will be an advantage.
• On the job training will be provided.
• Computer Literacy will be an advantage.
• Ability to work individually and within a team.
• Prior experience as a Laundry Attendant or a similar position in the hospitality industry will be an advantage.
