Responsibilities

• Reconcile and maintain petty cash & bank balances
• Reconcile daily sales with payment gateway platform
• Ensure monthly settlement of sellers' accounts for sales are reconciled
• Reconcile and maintain inventory records on a timely basis
• Ensuring suppliers' invoices are keyed correctly into the accounting system on a timely basis
• Check and process staff claims in accordance with company policy
• Prepare monthly schedules
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing
• Perform accurate inputs of financial data into relevant spreadsheets and work with manual finance operations and processes
• Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned from time to time

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business
• Minimum 3 years experience in retail/E-commerce industry
• Have full-set accounting experience (preferred)
• Have experience in GST quarterly submission
• Possess prior knowledge/experience in using Xero
• Strong in basic accounting principles
  Strong in data analysis / data management, with keen attention to detail

Department overview:

The Product Control team is part of the wider Global Middle Office team that plays an important role within Finance. It includes the Product Control, Valuations, Collateral Management and Risk & Operations Middle Office functions. The Product Control (PC) team is an independent control function that ensures the integrity of Nomura's financial statements. This is through the preparation and independent verification of daily and monthly P&Ls. In addition, PC review trade booking and valuation flows, perform balance sheet reconciliation and substantiation.

Global Middle Office work closely with the Wholesale division supporting the business and their trading activities. They also work closely with Risk, Operations, IT, Legal and Compliance as well as other functions within the Finance division. GMO provide management with valuable insight into the Wholesale trading performance and key financial information. The team reports locally in to the AEJ Deputy CFO and globally into the Global Head of Middle Office.

Nomura operates a mature offshore PL production model meaning the onshore role is focussed on liaison with the business, working closely with the middle office trade validation team and value add advisory work. The role of the onshore team spans business advisory, performance analysis, balance sheet substantiation and valuation controls. The candidate will need to maintain close working relationships with the trading desk and develop a deep understanding of the business' trading strategies to evaluate desk performance and provide insight to the firm's senior management on business performance, challenges, and opportunities.

Role description:

As the Product Controller, you will be heavily involved with Transaction due diligence and support, with frequent interaction with stakeholders across Finance, and plenty of opportunity to interact with regional senior management in various committees.

Other responsibilities will include:

• Take ownership and be accountable for the timely and accurate calculation, verification, reporting of Daily, and Month-end reporting. This would be performed in conjunction with an offshore team located in Powai, Mumbai, requiring the individual to manage the offshore team relationships and deliverables.
• Perform regular analysis on the portfolio to ascertain whether the valuations are appropriate. This will include monitoring of the portfolio and assessing whether any mark-up / mark downs should be applied which will be discussed with senior management.
• Undertake critical reviews of trading activity with the objective of highlighting significant items to senior management.
• Applying strong interpersonal skills, the individual will work closely with Trading, Banking, Risk, Operations and other corporate functions to resolve booking, valuation, and financial resource enquiries and issues.
• Understand and critically analyse new financing transactions and perform Finance Due Diligence, by understanding the financial resources required on the trade, assess profitability of the trade in context of return on such resources. Identifying and resolve potential implications on Legal entity, Accounting, Treasury and Tax matters. Present findings and recommendations to Senior Management for committee approval.
• Represent Finance at various regional Risk and Legal Entity committees, to update the state of business and portfolio to senior management.
• Actively engage in new business and product launches and participate in global finance projects.

Requirements:

• Minimum Degree from an accredited University or Professional Qualification for e.g. Chartered Accountant or Chartered Financial Analyst
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in Product Control or Valuations with a focus on loans and credit products
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with illiquid and alternative investment products such as Structured Lending, Special Situations, Distressed credits, Private Equity, Mortgage products, Warehouse financing or hybrid products
• Experience in USGAAP accounting skills for Financing Transactions and, BASEL 3 rules and regulations
• Proven self-starter showing initiative to address issues as they arise and confidence in analysing and presenting complex financial data.
• Excellent communication skill for effective interaction with senior stakeholders.
• Demonstrated outstanding leadership skill managing and developing junior team members, and ability to effectively managing multiple stakeholders and display leadership qualities to make and impact to achieve desired result
• Strong control mind set, and not afraid to ask questions, challenge the status quo and suggest changes and re-invent the process. Desire to drive for improvement and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Generate invoice.
• Verify accuracy of bills and obtain approval before sending out, especially on non-standard items, interest charges, arrears payment, failed Giro deduction.
• Ensure billings are done on time, to prevent backlogs and incurring bad debts that needs to be written off.
• Perform routine internal / manual / billing system compliance checks as well as on payment receivables using advanced excel formulas.
• Perform immediate corrective actions on billing errors through comms to the public.
• Oversee cases with arrears.
• Monitor payment and prepare bills for late payment interest and prepare report using data visualisation tools.
• Keep records of conversations with tenants for fees not collected within the stipulated timeframe.
• Call to hasten/ clarify on late payments.
• Prepare invoicing for ad hoc billing scenarios.
• Offset payment against individual invoices for accurate arrears tracking.
• Establish arrangements with banks on Giro payment reports, failed deduction etc.
• Ensure write off process is adhered to.
• Track arrears till closure according to guidelines established.

Role: Solution Architect/Data Engineer (Banking)

Senior Data Engineer – Someone with experience on building up data lakes/warehouses with strong development background on cloud such as Azure or AWS would be ideal.

• Write production code and develop applications/interfaces for Trading Analytics.

• Co-design the architecture for Data Platform and Data Analytics, including the development of Data Lake/Warehouse, optimization of data flows, and highly automated data cleansing.
