The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Singapore is seeking a full-time paediatric pathologist. The position is available for a flexible period of three to four years; this may therefore suit an individual who has recently retired, or who wishes to gain a period of international exposure working in a vibrant city-state in Asia.

You will be responsible for planning and developing healthcare infrastructure facilities and managing various projects from proposal to completion. You will develop master plans and budget proposals, be involved in conceptual planning and conduct feasibility studies. SingHealth Experimental Medicine Centre runs several core facilities for translational research in SingHealth as well as the National Large Animal Research Facility. Reporting to the Assistant Director, you will be responsible in supporting the implementation of policies and initiatives for animal husbandry and care.

You will be involved in the maintenance of animal inventory, equipment and facilities to ensure full compliance with National Advisory Committee for Laboratory Animal Research (NACLAR) guidelines, Animal and Veterinary Services (AVS) requirements and American Association for Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) international standards. You will be responsible for ensuring provision for veterinary husbandry and care as well as help in running the animal housing and breeding facilities.

You will also assist with administering appropriate treatments and medications to animals when necessary. In addition, you will help to prepare and set up training activities.

You will provide secretariat support to the respective Performance Review Sub-Committees (PRS) in the training sites which oversee the performance and remediation of Post-graduate Year 1 (PGY1), as well as ensure the effective implementation of the national PGY1 framework at an institution level. Other responsibilities include registering new PGY1s at the start of each posting, managing the rotational planning, ensuring timely collection and screening of various assessment reports of PGY1 in preparation for the Performance Review Sub-Committees meetings and reports to the Training and Assessment Standards Committee.

You will also provide administrative support to the Program Director by administering the PGY1 feedback survey, as well as ensuring the welfare of the PGY1s and facilitating a good learning experience for them.
