Overview and purpose of the position

Work closely with service leads and business stakeholders to identify roadmap of information technology (IT) solutions and enhancements. The individual will be responsible in one of the specialties: technical support to Radiography Information System (RIS) or Laboratory Information system (EPIC Beaker) in meeting business requirements. Staff with a keen aptitude in healthcare IT will be considered and appropriate training will be provided.

Main responsibilities:

• Work closely with Reporting Officer in the approval, acquisition and implementation of IT projects.

• Literacy in some Information technology disciplines such as fluency in Python and a systems language (Java, Scala, C++) and experience with Oracle database will be advantageous

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be involved in a multi-site cohort Human Biomedical Research study. You will be based at outpatient clinics across NUHS, at Alexandra Hospital or National University Polyclinics. You will be primarily responsible for subject recruitment and other research deliverables for the studies. You will work closely with the research team and the Principal Investigator of the study.

1) Subject Recruitment and follow up

• Be involved in subject recruitment, scheduling and data entry. Screen patients based on study eligibility, and communicate the study aims to potential subjects in layman terms.

Overview

Admission and Service Centre (AASC) has a team of financial counsellors who provides timely and accurate financial estimates information on patient’s hospital stay based on treatment or procedure. The role requires you to conduct bedside financial counselling for admitted patients in a consistent and comprehensive manner on estimated/ interim/ finalised medical cost. You will need to assist patients to understand and source for their financing options to reduce their upfront cash burdens by empowering patients to make informed decisions on the level of medical services based on their affordability.

Job Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the following:

Financial Counselling /Admission

• Conduct financial counselling to patient/NOK on the estimated hospital bills, available subsidies and schemes and various modes of payment.
• Assist patients to complete the various modes of payment forms.
• Refer appropriate cases to Business Office/Medical Social Worker for financial assistance schemes that patient may be eligible for.
• Ensure proper documentation and follow up is done for all inflight cases until patient discharge.

Patient Billing Matters

• Assist patients/NOK in their billing enquiries.
• To collect deposits, payments and handle any outstanding bills for eligible patients, or for other items ordered/applied by medical team such as rehabilitation items, mobility aids etc.
• Perform settlement for NETS / Credit Card transactions daily for patient outstanding payments.

Handling and processing of National forms (NEFR/MCAF/MT)

• To be able to explain and advise patient and their NOK on the various forms and the necessary proof of documentation needed.
• To ensure the original hardcopy of MCAF M/NEFR forms are submitted and send back to MOHH timely.
• To ensure SAP system is updated whenever these forms are consented by patient.

Other Responsibilities

• Perform daily housekeeping of the reception areas and workstations to maintain a professional image and neatness of the workplace.
• Reply emails received in the AASC email account daily.
• Ensure all e-BARFs and merge request cases are raised timely and correctly within the department.

Patient Service Associates (PSA) provide frontline counter services to patients. PSA is to assist patients by checking patient’s service/order requirement, managing patient queues, handle basic enquiries (e.g. appointment booking) and to provide administrative support to medical technologists and radiographers.

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for reception of all appointment and walk-in patients at the Diagnostics counters
• Ensure 2 patients’ identifiers (NRIC & Name) are verified for all patients when handling patient registration electronically (i.e. EPIC, LIS, RIS, POS, BSS.) and verifying tests ordered by doctors.
• Accurate appointment scheduling / booking and registration for eligible mammogram patients via Breast Screen Singapore (BSS) portal
• Registration of mammogram patients are done accurately via BSS portal, including updating of patient particulars such as mailing address and contact number.
• Relevant instructions are communicated effectively to patients prior to their procedures/tests, chaperon patients to changing or counselling room where applicable.
• Handle enquiries and provide prompt and courteous service delivery to internal and external customers.
• Responsible for payment collection when assigned to cashier duties and ensure tally of end-of day sales with cash settlement and other transaction records.
• Ensure Medisave Authorization Forms (MAF) are filled in accurately with patients’ endorsement and approval, and all Medisave transactions are captured accurately in EASIPOS

Additional Information:

Reporting to Centre-IC, Medical Technologist (MT) is responsible for the daily operations and administration of laboratory to ensure compliance to regulations and accreditation standards. This includes daily routine laboratory work, performing phlebotomy, electrocardiogram and spirometry. MT is responsible to maintain professional care to patients and works closely with NUP and other stakeholders.

• Perform patient registration, specimen reception, preparation and packing of specimens
• Perform laboratory analysis (e.g. Urine microscopy, full blood count, HbA1c), operate and maintain instruments according to work instruction.
• Perform point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, ECG and spirometry procedures.
• Responsible to verify and report accurate results in timely fashion; investigates and reports any anomalies.
• Responsible to perform daily quality control check and troubleshoot as required.
• Ensure proper documentations and records for traceability (e.g. acknowledgement on QC and maintenance checklist after completion).
• Assist to resolve patient’s queries and escalate to centre-IC when necessary.
• Adhere to work safety guidelines and infection control protocols to ensure staff and patient safety.
• Assist centre-IC in tasks as assigned.

Qualification

Degree in Medical Laboratory/Biomedical Science or related fields.

Prior experience working at clinical laboratory at public or private healthcare establishment is advantageous but training will be provided

Experience in phlebotomy and heel prick sample collection will be advantageous but training will be provided

Effective communications and ability to converse in vernacular languages is an asset

Able to work in a fast-paced environment and with good problem solving skills

Possess positive attitude in resolving hostile and disgruntled patients professionally

Ability to multi-task and work under tight timelines

Good interpersonal relationship skills and enjoy working as a team

Computer literate – knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint will be advantageous

Radiographer is responsible for the providing prompt diagnostic imaging services to the patient, ensuring patient safety and proper care of equipment. Assist Centre In-charge/ Senior or Principal Radiographer to guide and supervise junior and student radiographers when required.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform general radiographic examinations and/or at least one of the area of specialty including mammography and/or ultrasound and/or Bone Mineral Densitometry.
• Responsible for the safety and welfare of the patient.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment; adhere to safe work practices especially in radiation safety and infection control.
• Ensure proper usage and care for all equipment at the specific diagnostic centre.
• Perform other administrative duties or ad-hoc quality departmental projects/activities as assigned by the reporting officer/ Lead Radiographer
• Apply the ALARA principle for all procedures.
• Responsible for general housekeeping of the allocated diagnostic centre.
• Render prompt and courteous service delivery to external and internal customers.
• Ensure efficient running and operations of their area of responsibility.
• Assist the Radiographer-In-Charge / Senior or Principal Radiographer to ensure quality control procedures are performed diligently.
• Ensure AHPC certification is achieved after one / two years depending on qualification(s).

Job Requirements:

Required Skills and Experience
• Recognized degree in Diagnostic Radiography.
• Professional Licence: R1 license with Centre for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Sciences, National Environment Agency.
• Timely update and renewal of RI license.
• Registration with Allied Health Professions Council.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Participate in continuous medical education and quality assurance programs as directed by Radiographer In-charge / Senior or Principal Radiographer.
• Complete all assigned tasks in an organized and timely manner.
• Service orientated and customer focused. Have a compassionate, caring and friendly attitude.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
• Effective communications and coaching skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience
• Mammography and ultrasound experience preferred.

• Knowledge of NGEMR, Epic usage and RISPACS would be an additional advantage.
