Provide patient care in Cardiovascular Suite and to assist in the interventional cardiovascular procedures, ensuring compliance with radiology safety policies and procedures for the safety of patients and others.

Main Responsibilities

· To plan and manage the care of individual patient using the nursing process approach comprising of Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation in the Closed Monitoring Unit (CMU). On admission, all necessary pre-procedure check will be done on patient.

· To prepare patient for procedure by serving all necessary pre-medications and shaving the appropriate site and monitor the patient closely after a procedure in the CMU and notify the cardiologist/attending doctor of any abnormalities.

· To assist in procedures and prepare the various instrument trolleys required in various interventional procedures.

· To ensure safety to patient when applying principles of administration of contrast media, taking into consideration the contra-indications and history of patient.

· To respond and manage emergency situations in an efficient and calm manner, e.g. in Code Blue.

· To perform other assignments as and when required by the Nurse Manager/Clinician.

Job Requirements

· Degree / Diploma in Nursing

· Post Basic Specialty Certificate/Advanced Diploma in Nursing.

As our comprehensive training, we can train anyone from a non-swimmer to clear the local Swim Safer 2.0 Gold standard within the first month of training. Within a year or less, you will be required to clear the UK program that requires you to swim 400m in 8 minutes as part of the Swim school requirements. Yes, you are not wrong! It’s a tradition for us, just like clearing the N.S. IPPT. We want you to be proud of your achievement and able to do the same for all our students.

• Venous studies of the upper and lower limbs for deep vein thrombosis (blood clot).

• Varicose veins/venous reflux studies for chronic venous insufficiency, varicose veins, spider veins etc.

• Pre-cardiac or vascular surgery screening/assessment to determine lumen diameters of conduits for harvest. They include great saphenous veins, radial arteries and internal mammary arteries.

• Specialised vascular studies for compression syndrome like thoracic outlet syndrome for the upper limb, May-Thurner syndrome (compression of left iliac vein), nutcracker syndrome (compression of left renal vein), median arcuate ligament syndrome (compression of celiac artery) etc.

• Transcutaneous oxygen pressure (TCPO2) studies to detect viable tissue in the extremities to determine healing of wound or determine optimum amputation level.

• Intra-operative scanning of vessels for difficult cases.

You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate the total nursing care for an assigned group of patients, as well as perform a wide variety of nursing procedures and patient education that meet patients’ needs. You will have opportunities to work in the Cardiothoracic Surgery wards/Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Cardiology wards/Coronary Care Unit (CCU). You will be required to perform shift work. The work schedule and hours will be discussed and planned with successful applicants based on mutual agreement, although we would need successful applicants to work at least 2 days per week.

Requirements:

• Registered Nurse or Nursing qualification recognised by the Singapore Nursing Board with at least 1-2 years’ nursing experience in an acute hospital setting
• Documented proof of:
• (i) Measles (or Mumps, Measles and Rubella) vaccination or serological evidence of measles immunity; and
• (ii) Diphtheria (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis) vaccination taken during preceding 10 years at prevailing point of reference as required for all healthcare workers under the Healthcare Services Act with effect from 3 January 2022. Applicants without these vaccinations are welcome to apply if they undertake to complete the vaccination(s) before work commencement upon successful interview and are offered employment

The Staff Nurse shall be responsible for carrying out preventive and curative medical services in Banyan Home under the instructions of the Head of Nursing Dept and the medical doctor. His/her duties are to:

1. Screen and provide nursing care to unwell residents.

2. Attend or carry out routine procedures for all new admissions and residents returned after absconding e.g. urine test, blood sugar test, rectal swab, etc.

3. Refer sick residents for medical examination by the doctor.

5. Follow-up on residents who have been referred to / admitted to hospitals.

7. Work closely with the OT and PT on therapy programmes and carry out simple exercises using physiotherapy equipment, when required,

8. Carry out daily rounds in the dormitories and supervise residents at mealtimes.

9. Supervise the management of casualties during emergencies.

10. Refer residents to hospital in the absence of the doctor.

11. Supervise the Nursing Aides in their work.

12. Order and maintain supplies and equipment.

13. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent from time to time
