DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists the Director of Clearing & Clearing Specialists with the daily trade processing, allocations and reconciliations
• Reconciles commissions and fees to ensure exchange charges are accurate
• Performs morning and end of day balancing
• Demonstrates efficient resolution of trade related issues as they occur (i.e. futures and cash trading)
• Learns and manages all new clearing processes as necessary
• Works closely with the Foreign Exchange and Sr. Currency Clearing Specialist, Clearing Manager, and Trade Desk managers
• Understands and manages rebate structures and clearing fees at the various exchanges
• Manages terminal operator IDs
• Proactively reviews the status of our bank credit lines at all times
• Proactively anticipates problems and makes useful recommendations resulting in reduced costs for greater profitability, productivity and improved quality of customer service
• Checks and maintains auto point-balance system
• Reconciles NY exchanges to general ledger
• Completes trade and cash adjustments to customer accounts within GMI
• Demonstrates reliable and predictable attendance
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
• A bachelor's degree in MIS, accounting, finance or related field
• Minimum of 1+ years experience working within the back-office operations of a brokerage or financial services firm preferred
• 2-3 years experience in trading support preferred
• 1-2 years experience using financial clearing systems preferred
• 1-2 years commodity operations experience preferred
• Series 7 and 63, or ability to obtain, preferred
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Ability to work with confidential data and handle matters with discretion
• Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively
• Knowledge of Point-balancing, clearing procedures, exchange systems, future expiration and deliveries
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to exercise good judgment and pro-active decision-making skills both independently and collaboratively with team members, peers and
management in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
• Consistent demonstration of excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service skills, professional appearance and demeanor. Ability to effectively interact with public, clients, and vendors while maintaining composure during stressful situations
• Ability to cultivate productive working relationships within the team, department, internal & external vendors, as well as with the Sr. Clearing Specialist directly
• Experience with Futures, Fixed Income, FX, COMEX / NYMEX, LCH, and energy products desirable
• Experience with Clearing Corp and GL Trade (Crystal Reports)
• Knowledgeable about clearing through international exchanges
• Strong Excel skills (macros, pivot tables, formulas, etc.)
• Display strong attention to detail and maintain accuracy while processing large volumes of work under strict time constraints
