As a Senior Manager/Manager in HR (Learning & Development), you will design and implement training programs that foster the professional growth of our employees while aligning with TAL’s strategic objectives. This role requires collaborating with the department’s subject matter experts, conducting training needs assessments, and ensuring the delivery of impactful learning solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Curriculum and Instructional Design

• Develop and implement training curricula to address skill gaps and support organisational goals.
• Create engaging training materials, including e-learning modules, workshops, and instructor-led sessions.
• Apply instructional design principles to create interactive learning experiences and leverage instructional technologies to enhance training outcomes.

2. Training Needs Assessment and Evaluation

• Conduct training needs assessments to identify learning requirements and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business objectives into actionable training plans.
• Implement evaluation methods to measure training effectiveness, gather participant feedback, and refine programs for continuous improvement.

3. Competency Framework Development and Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with department’s subject matter experts to develop and define functional competencies for new hires, existing staff, and supervisors.
• Create and maintain competency frameworks and conduct assessments to identify and address skill gaps.
• Regularly review and update competency frameworks to ensure they remain aligned with evolving industry standards and TAL’s workforce needs.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or a related L&D role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite such as Power Automate and Power BI.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish connections with internal and external stakeholders.
• ACTA/ACLP and IHRP certifications are preferred.
• Familiarity with SkillsFuture competency frameworks and assessment methods is an advantage.
• Ability to work in a face-paced environment with multiple priorities

The Senior Marine HR Training Manager will oversee the comprehensive training and development of all ship crew, ensuring training programs meet the highest standards of excellence and compliance.

The ideal candidate would have at least 8-10 years of progressive experience in maritime training and development, with at least 5 years in a managerial role, along with a proven track record in designing and implementing effective training programs within the maritime industry.

Responsibilities

Crew Training Management

• Develop and implement comprehensive training programs tailored to the needs of Ship Crew.
• Ensure all ship crew meet the training matrix that follows international maritime regulations and industry best practices.
• Control, forecast, and budget crew training accounts.
• Source and qualify local and regional training partners.
• Develop crew training concepts in cooperation with the Marine HR team.
• Conduct presentations on Crew Induction, Corporate Values, Crew Training, and Manning Agencies Training Seminars/Workshops/Conferences.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through rigorous performance metrics and feedback mechanisms.

• Handle other ad-hoc projects related to crew and manning partner training.

Fleet Management Collaboration

• Align training initiatives with operational requirements and performance standards of the fleet.
• Facilitate the transfer of knowledge and skills across technical and operational domains within the fleet management division.
• Work closely with the Marine HR team to organise relevant technical Sea Crew training and trainings for officers’ conferences.

Safety and Audit Collaboration

• Work closely with the Safety and Audit Department to develop targeted training programs addressing gaps identified through audits.
• Implement corrective actions and training interventions to mitigate risks and enhance operational safety.

Partnership Management & Industry Engagement

• Collaborate with maritime academies and specialized training providers to ensure access to high-quality training resources and certifications.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with classification societies to ensure compliance with requirements and standards.
• Engage with engine makers and bridge equipment manufacturers to integrate manufacturer-specific training modules into the training framework.
• Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, and committees related to maritime training and development.

Continuous Improvement

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of training programs.
• Regularly review and update training curricula to reflect emerging trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Education
• Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in maritime training and development, with at least 5 years in a managerial or senior leadership role.
• Proven track record in designing and implementing effective training programs within the maritime industry.
• In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to seafarers' training.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
