The Global Safeguards Senior Manager leads design and implementation of TNC’s rights-centered Environmental and Social Safeguards Framework. The Global Safeguards Senior Manager leads the development of an organization-wide rights-centered Environmental and Social Safeguards Framework (ESSF), based on existing materials and staff input to-date. They advise global strategies and regions in the development, implementation and active management of tailored Human Rights-centered Environmental and Social Safeguards, based on the Global ESSF. They provide technical leadership in designing, upgrading and delivering tools for management of the rights-centered ESSF. They will supervise a team charged with development and implementation of the ESSF. They work with Regional Rights and Safeguards Advisors in their design, implementation and collective movement building to integrate new standards and processes in conservation projects, programs and strategies. They work with the Global Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities team to implement UNDRIP and TNC Human

Rights Guide in our conservation work in regions. They will be a part of the Equitable Conservation Team in the Chief Conservation Office and will report to the Director, Human Rights in Conservation.

The Global Safeguards Senior Manager influences TNC leadership and advocates for the incorporation of rights-based Environmental and Social Safeguards in organizational policies, processes and procedures. They ensure that the ESSF incorporates strategies that center human rights and support TNC’s compliance with public funding mandates and requirements, as well as build momentum around public funding compliance. They advise the Human Rights in Conservation Director, and the Equitable Conservation Director on how to effectively coordinate safeguards and rights issues across the Chief Conservation Office and Equitable Conservation portfolios, including new strategies. They work to develop a matrixed dotted line network of managed strategy advisors in the field through active collaboration, as well as supporting the development and uptake of ESSF resources and tools.
