Centre for Optical Fibre Technology (COFT)

COFT is a joint endeavour between DSO, A*Star and NTU which hosts state-of-the-art fabrication equipment for several kinds of optical fibres, ranging from standard silica fibres to a variety of advanced specialty fibres, microstructured fibres and novel glasses (e.g. chalcogenides). Key equipment includes a 8.5 m dual-side fibre drawing tower, a Modified Chemical Vapour Deposition (MCVD) fibre preform lathe hosted in 200 m2 of cleanroom space. The facility also includes 300 m2 of dedicated chemical preparation area for glass etching and machining, advanced fibre processing and characterisation systems, including Bragg grating engraving/cutting, fusion splicing, thermogravimetric and thermomechanical analysers, lithography and etching. Characterisation relies on spectrophotometry, high-frequency network analysis, SNOM and electro-optic microcharacterisation.

A Facility Manager (FM) is required to support fibre fabrication activities at NTU. The FM should address any problems or issues that arise during fibre fabrication in the lab and proactively assist those using the facility. The FM must exhibit strong organisational skills and confidently prioritise tasks in a dynamic environment where responsibilities are continually evolving.

Work you will do

· You will provide end-to-end advisory and overlay point-of-views and industry insights onto the research and analyses provided by the project teams, and seek to formulate innovative technology-enabled solutions to address our clients’ business needs.

· You will manage the assessment and business requirements gathering processes, review appropriateness of functional specifications against the problem statements/business requirements, and support solutions prototyping and architecture re-design by applying industry insights and know-hows.

· You will engage our clients in discussions, presentations and workshops to validate technology-enabled solutions provided by the project teams, as well as perform walk-through of work products and deliverables with the clients.

· You will develop trusted relationships with your clients and gain recognition in the marketplace for technical and advisory capabilities across the spectrum.

· You will provide quality assurance and ensure timely delivery of work products developed by the project teams.

· You will actively coach project teams during the execution of projects and support senior team members in maintaining operational excellence at all times.

· You will meet clients on a regular basis to define problem statements, analyse key priorities/issues, and work with senior team members to develop responses to client enquiries, formulate proposals and produce point-of-view publications.

If you are someone with:

· A good honors Degree, preferably at postgraduate level, in Information Technology, Business Information Systems, Business, Engineering, Mathematics or related disciplines.

· Senior consultant will require a minimum of 6 years of experience in IT management consulting.

· Experience in both advisory as well as implementation experience in the following areas:

o IT Strategy: IT strategy development, IT governance, IT operating model, enterprise architecture

o IT Transformation: IT sourcing advisory, program and project management advisory

o IT Operations: IT service management, IT shared service management

o IT Optimization: IT cost reduction, IT Merger & Acquisition

· Understanding of current IT trends (cloud computing, big data, social media, RPA, IoT, blockchain, etc.)

· Strong analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills in English, be self-motivated, and be able to work in stressful situations with changing priorities

· Excellent problem solving skills, ability to think out-of-the-box, work under pressure and tight project timelines

· Drive, tenacity, client focused and results oriented

· Proven demonstration of sound business acumen, teamwork and leadership qualities.

Atomionics is developing quantum sensors using cold atom interferometry, where atoms are cooled to nearly absolute zero using lasers. At such extreme temperatures, these atoms behave like waves, enabling precise measurement of forces acting on them.

This technology has vast potential applications, including advancing the zero-carbon energy transition, enhancing the performance of inertial navigation systems, and revolutionizing the global positioning system. At Atomionics, you will have the opportunity to design, prototype, test, refine and manufacture Quantum Gravity Sensors. You will develop solutions to improve the performance of our sensor, while also making it compact and robust for field deployment on projects around the world.

Responsibilities

• Work in collaboration with electronics and atomic physicists to develop the system architecture to ensure robustness and reliability in a dynamic environment of atom interferometry sensing systems
• Design the housing and packaging for miniaturized atom interferometry setup
• CAD models for precision manufacturing and fabrication of optomechanical benches
• Structural analysis and characterization to ensure robustness in harsh environment

About you

• An absolutely driven individual with creative problem solving skills, analytical mind, and persistence, ideally, demonstrated
• Experience using Solidworks/Autodesk/other CAD software
• Experience in different manufacturing techniques

• Worked in a technical student team, or an early stage company environment
