Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented lab technician to join our research team at Xinterra. You will play a crucial role in executing experiments and analysis of materials for our innovative product COzTERRA™, which is a textile treatment that removes CO2 from air. You will also have the opportunity to be part of our unique high throughput experimentation labs. This position offers valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic research environment and the chance to contribute to innovative advancements in the field of textiles.
Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory Management
- Assist in the setup and organization of laboratory equipment, chemicals, and materials for various experiments
- Participate in maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment by adhering to safety protocols and practices
- Prepare solutions, reagents, and samples as required for testing and analysis
- Coordinate procurement of new chemicals and manage chemical inventory
Materials Characterisation
- Conduct materials/textile property investigation using our innovative high throughput experimentation systems
- Help in the interpretation of characterization data and contribute to the preparation of analysis reports
- Collaborate with our research team to develop a comprehensive understanding of material properties and behaviour
Data Collection and Analysis
- Collect data from experiments and characterization processes accurately and meticulously
- Organize and analyze experimental data using software tools or platforms as directed
- Present findings and observations in a clear and concise manner to the research team
Collaboration and Learning
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including researchers, scientists, and engineers
- Actively participate in team meetings, discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions
- Continuously learn and stay updated on relevant scientific advancements and industry trends
Qualifications:
- Either a bachelors (0-2 years experience) or diploma (with min 3 years experience) in Chemistry, Materials Science or Chemical Engineering
- Experience with analytical chemistry is a must
- Good understanding of chemical principles, laboratory techniques, and materials characterization methods
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and reliable results
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in using standard laboratory equipment and Microsoft Office suite
- Proficiency with Python is a plus
- Prior experience with textile treatments, formulations, or materials characterization is a plus
