A Research Associate position is available to join the Microbiome Medicine Laboratory led by Associate Professor Sunny Wong at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, part of Nanyang Technological University.

Our mission is to promote and develop a sustainable research center dedicated to conducting impactful translational microbiome research. The lab focuses on translational research, transforming fundamental research findings into tangible benefits for patients, Singapore, and the broader public. The successful candidate will join our team to undertake high-quality research in microbiome medicine, aligning with the overarching research strategy of the school.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide bioinformatics analysis for omics projects and software compilations
• Perform molecular biology assays/ experiments
• Contribute to formulating hypothesis, grant writing, publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Participate in seminars and meetings within the team and collaborators
• Manage datasets and databases, ensure data security, privacy, and compliance to university guidelines
• Supervision of junior members of the lab, including graduate and undergraduate students

Competencies and Requirements

• Masters (for Research Associate) in relevant field of Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Life Sciences, or related fields
• Research experience preferably in the bioinformatic or biomedical field
• Experience using programme languages such as JavaScript, Python, R or similar programming languages
• Hands-on experience with in vitro cell culture assays, molecular and cell biology techniques
• Self-directed learner who picks up relevant skills as required
• A record of productivity with scholarly, peer-reviewed publications
• Able to work independently and as a team player

This role is responsible for planning raw materials, Flavours and Vendor Directs by maintaining safety inventory levels and replenishing based on MRP requirements. Be a back-up for the other raw materials Planner (Non Flavours and Packaging).

Responsibilities:

1. Analyze SAP purchase requisitions and convert to PO’s on timely basis for Flavors and Vendor Directs
2. Manage exceptions such as expedites and postponements or cancellations.
3. Be the data owner for these materials
4. Daily interaction with Production Planners, quality, receiving, freight forwarder to provide updates on raw material availability
5. Management of PO relating to vendor direct items and full process since PO creation until confirmation of shipment; and coordination of internal activities
6. Responsible for providing feedback for New Product Introduction via e-ICE maintenance for common materials
7. Ensure accuracy and maintenance of Safety Stock and raw materials planning master data
8. Meet key inventory and material planning metrics
9. Identify and manage opportunities to optimize SAP functionality
10. Maintain Materials Dashboard KPIs which include PO management, RM shortage, Order Acknowledgement, SOH vs Safety, Shelf life and RM availability
11. Provide accurate and timely feedback in relation to Inventory in Risk (MIRA)
12. Lead and implement projects for inventory optimization and process improvements
13. Monitoring supplier quality and delivery performance and collaborate with procurement team to resolve supply issues
14. Meet all internal and external compliance responsibilities including Purchasing Policy requirements, GCS, SOX & AIBI
15. Adherence to all PepsiCo Health & Safety requirements is a requirement of this role
16. Any other ad hoc duties and projects as assigned

Requirements

Education or Professional Certifications (minimum level required e.g. Bachelor’s degree, Diploma and/or certifications)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Inventory or Materials Planning
  

Experience (number of years of directly related operational or leadership experience and to specific industry if need be)

• At least 5 years of experience in a related Supply Chain or Operations role particularly in raw materials planning
• Strong operational experience in a dynamic multinational organization
• Experience working closely with third parties and colleagues in remote locations to deliver business objectives an advantage
• Experience in FMCG is a plus.
