About the department
The Market Access Department at Novo Nordisk is responsible for developing access strategies that will ensure the best possible funding and reimbursement for existing and future NN products. Our team identifies and delivers an understanding of landscape, changes, and trends in the market channels across all Novo Nordisk therapeutic areas. We collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify opportunities and threats across the commercial and government channels. Our focus is on the broader portfolio and pipeline, inclusive of Diabetes and Obesity, and we work closely with other teams such as Marketing, Medical and Finance. The job is based at our APAC headquarters, where we foster a collaborative and innovative atmosphere.
The position
As a Market Access Director at Novo Nordisk, you will:
Market Access
- Lead the development of market access strategies and tactical plans within the relevant therapy areas
- Support local affiliates with their local market access strategies and implementation
- Contribute to the cross-functional regional strategy development within the relevant therapy areas
- Monitor and anticipate healthcare system and competitive landscape changes to leverage opportunities and mitigate potential risks by disseminating relevant information across the organization.
- Chair APAC Market Access Forums and represent APAC Market Access in IO/Global Forums.
- Responsible for development of APAC Market Access functional team deliverables in order to ensure high quality and timely output.
- Tailor and implement strategic Market Access strategies & frameworks such as payer engagement, and alternative access models for affiliates.
- Collaborate closely with International Operations (IO) Pricing and Market Access (PMA) and critical functional areas in APAC (Medical & Marketing, Pricing, Supply Chain and Business Development) as well as with affiliates to drive aligned actions and tactics for Market Access.
- Ensure affiliate Market Access Plans have aligned strategic direction with IO/APAC Ambition and IO/APAC PMA vision.
Value Communication/Health Economics & Outcomes Research
- Ensure the highest standards of excellence are applied to any APAC Health Economics (HE) study – whether they be part of clinical trials, or independent prospective, retrospective, or real-world observational studies, and that this is done in full compliance with Novo Nordisk relevant SOPs and payer requirements.
- Guide and support country Health Economics & Real World Evidence studies
- Provide input to IO & Global HE studies and publications to ensure needs and interests of APAC markets are well represented to leverage business opportunities.
- Validate and sign off submission value dossier to ensure high quality value story.
- Ensure relevance to business and high quality HE trainings developments for affiliates.
- Coordinate APAC Market Access community in order to adequately liaise and provide input to IO/Global for RWE, clinical development, strategy and execution.
- Monitor and influence external HTA developments and actively steer internal HEOR developments.
Pricing and Contracting
- Implement global pricing strategies and adapt those strategies to APAC setting to align with the regional commercial & market access strategies maximizing revenues based on a solid understanding of expected submission evaluations, intrinsic value, precedents, modelling to define per market price level, market access schemes.
- Divert price pressures by applying thorough portfolio thinking as well as mid- to long- term insights to achieve optimal contracting outcome.
- Monitor and challenge pricing developments in affiliates based on IO Ambition, APAC Market Access strategy as well as on regional and local pricing developments and international reference pricing.
- Communicate pricing insights and analyses to IO Pricing & Market Access, APAC Management and relevant stakeholders ensuring broader business implications are reflected.
- Ensure potential contracting opportunities for affiliates/products are leveraged by driving the contracting workshops and coordinating development of the contracting case in close collaboration with IO.
- Facilitate and ensure pricing representation in key financial & commercial processes such as AB, RE2 and other by coordinating pricing inputs and analyses with other functional areas in IO and Affiliates.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who can tick off most of the following topics:
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in market access within a pharmaceutical/biotech company or as a consultant within the life science industry
- Leadership experience is preferred and s trong stakeholder management & interpersonal skills are required with the ability to deal with different stakeholders across the job levels and functions in a matrix organization
- Experience in creating and executing comprehensive market access strategies
- Strong understanding of pricing and reimbursement, health technology assessment, evidence-based medicine review, and health economic modeling activities
- Ability to communicate the unique attributes of therapeutic area drugs/medical devices to external multi-stakeholders
- Experience working with payers, including HTA, reimbursement influencers and other decision makers
- Strong quantitative and qualitative pricing research skills
- Ability to work closely with Health Economics/Outcomes Research to design pricing strategy
- Fluent spoken and written English is a prerequisite
