A*STAR IDL is dedicated to advancing translational research in infectious diseases to improve both health and economic outcomes.

Job Description:

We are seeking a talented researcher to lead the research on a 3 year funded research project as well as develop novel ideas in the broad scope of host-pathogen interactions and infectious diseases. Preliminary data gathered will help develop the researcher’s career and path to independence through the various early-career support available internally in A*STAR as well as in the Singapore ecosystem.

The funded project will aim to characterize and compare host-alphavirus interactions at the immune response level in vivo in animal models through a novel viral-centric approach. Preliminary data of the lab has shown a differential adaptive immune response polarization between two alphaviruses and identified, via in vivo comparative multiOmic approaches, a set of candidate host factors potentially responsible for the phenotype. The project will entail a close characterization of these host factors and their role in the viral life cycle as well as the modulation of the immune response of small animal model to these viruses. In addition to multi-Omics approaches (including single-cell and spatial), protein-protein interactions, microscopy, functional genomics, viral reverse genetics and CRISPR Cas9 gene editing will be some of the tools used to investigate this viral hijacking and understand the host-viral interplay. Animals models available in the lab include mice and zebrafish. Downstream of characterization will aim to validate these targets in small preclinical models for subsequent drug discovery in the A*STAR ecosystem. Throughout the project, close collaborative work within A*STAR IDL as well as other institutes throughout Singapore and overseas will be used to leverage expertise for high impact studies.

Supervisor

• Supervises processes and ensure smooth operations.
• Resolve any site issues faced at the work site.
• Monitor and lead work of contractors and workers.
• Installing and repairing piping Overseeing the installation and repair of piping systems, and ensuring they are done correctly.
• Ensure chiller systems operate at optimal performance and efficiency.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues, implementing effective solutions.
• Attend daily Toolbox meetings at the site.
• Follow the planned progress schedule without compromising quality and safety.
• Make regular site inspections to identify nonconformances.
• Prepare and keep day work records.
• Arrange for inspection, testing and handover.
• To order material and control material usage.
• To provide idea in solving site installation issues.
• To take responsibility of workers efficiency and effectiveness onsite.
• To settle team members' concern and highlight to management.
• Inducts safe work practice and procedure among fellow colleagues and workers.

Responsibilities

Account Development/Sales

• Understand customers’ needs and provide solutions.
• Lead others in how to meet customer expectations.
• Works closely with Sales Managers, Engineering and Operations to develop strategies that result in customer penetration and sales growth.
• Make sales trips to customer sites as needed to establish new accounts and maintain current accounts.
• Maintains constant communication lines with the customers and stakeholders.
• Maintains good customer relationships at all levels within the customer organization, meets and exceeds bookings/sales goals as agreed upon with Sales Management.

Proposal Generation

• Communicates proposal information to all stakeholders and assembles teams as needed to jointly develop quotes for manufacturing times and materials.
• Reviews the project with the Operations teams to assure that processes and materials proposed are appropriate, typically involves the stakeholders needed (Engineering, Estimating, Sales Management, etc.) in the cost and price review process.
• Works with materials management to determine lead-time and capacity.

Contract Review/negotiation

• Develops strategies for pricing and terms, consults Sales Management, CEO/President, Operations Management.
• Negotiate terms and conditions as required.
• Manages customer changes (ECN) and pursues change claims in a manner that does not impact relationships.

Project Execution

• Manages ongoing programs through completion by monitoring status on a daily basis and involving the appropriate people in the organization to aid in the process.
• Holds in-plant meetings with support functions to communicate project direction and status
• Involves Manufacturing Engineers and/or a project team to process the project
• Provides leadership in pursuing continuous improvement and reduction.
• Supports the manufacturing and engineering departments by clarifying questions on specifications.
• Collaborates with experts to solve problems on projects to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Continually interfaces with customer regarding schedules, changes, problems and pricing.
• Reviews job closing and approves billing, follows up on customer receipt of project, customer satisfaction and payment for customer, supports accounting in resolving invoice/payment problems.

Strategic Focus/Planning

• Actively participates in the strategic planning process, focused on future customer need and initiates potential research and development projects to gain competitive advantage and fuel business growth
• Provides accurate bookings/sales forecast to assist in asset and budget management
• Keeps current with new methods of manufacturing, business systems, and new technology.
• Has a focus of self-development through continued training and education.
• Participates in special projects or activities, carries out special duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 6 years in semiconductor or similar manufacturing industries; experience in contract manufacturing is a plus.
• Proven track record of maintaining profitability on complex machined parts and assemblies.
• Strong ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple assignments with urgency in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• High energy and initiative; adept at seeking out information and establishing strong relationships internally and externally.
• Demonstrated capability in managing and leading project teams effectively.
• Proficient presentation skills with the ability to engage and convey information clearly to stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% as needed.

Responsibilities:

• To be responsible for ensuring the occupational safety, health & security at the workplace
• To oversee safety practices, execute SHS activities for compliance with legal regulations and promoting a safe work environment.
• To conduct, prepare agenda and minutes for monthly safety meeting with Field Service Operations and quarterly SHS Committee Meeting
• To plan, coordinate, arrange and conduct safety-related training to staff (internal and external)
• To perform safety inspection at office premises (including customer’s premises) and follow up with report
• To revise HIRARC, SWP, MOS as and when necessary
• To be onsite to supervise and monitor the safe operation of FSO activities (project based) in accordance with customers’ requirements / protocols
• To liaise with various agencies on renewal of licenses
• To be actively involved in facilities and fleet management activities.
• Other instruction(s) from superior as and when necessary for business operations

Requirements :

• Minimum 2 or 3 years of relevant experience
• Candidate should possess at least a Diploma qualification
• Completed WSQ Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health (Level B) and certified competent
• Other certification related to safety and health is an added advantage
• Possessing a valid Class 3/3A driving license is an added advantage.
• Able to work independently as well as a good team player
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office programs
• Strong interpersonal skills including presentation skills, organization skills and attention to details
• Cleanroom experience preferred but not a pre-requisite
