A Day in the Life

Medtronic’s Tax Department consists of over 100 tax professionals and support personnel located in different locations in the United States (U.S) and six different locations outside the U.S. The Tax Department is broken down into seven major groups: Reporting & Tax Accounting, Compliance, M&A and Tax Planning, Audits & Controversy, Transfer Pricing and International Taxes. This position reports into the International Tax Senior Manager located in Singapore. In this role, the Tax Accountant, Asia Pacific (APAC), will have responsibility over designated countries’ income tax compliance (managing an outsourced provider), audits, and tax planning. In addition, this person will have responsibility over selected APAC tax region projects as well as assist the Merger & Acquisition (M&A) Tax group with APAC M&A (and joint venture) deals, APAC acquisition integrations and divestitures. • Support in the reviewing of all corporate income tax returns and payment requests for entities prepared either by local Controllers or external service providers;
• Providing support to the APAC Team on all income tax queries, income tax audits and relationships with local tax authorities;
• Monitoring changes in local tax legislation, rulings, regulations and litigation;
• Support the APAC team on requests by APAC business partners on technical tax considerations and applicability to MDT; and
• Providing implementation support for any regional or global projects

• Support to APAC Controllers on tax provisions and deferred income taxes;
