OBS Instructor Recruitment Process

Candidates who are shortlisted will be invited for:

1. ISP Briefing

There will be a briefing session for all candidates to learn more about this meaningful career. You will also get to interact with the OBS team and have your questions answered through the session.

2. Instructor Selection Process (ISP)

Your very own 3D2N outdoor expedition to find out if you have what it takes to be an OBS Instructor. You will go through physically and mentally challenging but rewarding activities over 72 hours. By applying for this round of ISP, you will need to fully commit on the ISP dates.

3. Panel Interview

This is the final stage of becoming a Trainee Instructor. Bring your best self for a cosy chat with the OBS leaders to find out if there's a good match in terms of job expectations and cultural fit.

Requirements

• Singapore Citizen/Permanent Resident;
• Relevant experience and/or active sporting or outdoor background will be advantageous;
• Passion for engaging and developing youths;
• Able to adapt well and thrive in a dynamic environment; and
• Be a team player who is effective, resourceful, and takes the initiative in work.

Important: If you have any of the medical conditions below, you may not be able to participate in the ISP due to safety considerations.

Condition(s) of Concern:

1. Cardiac conditions e.g. ischemic heart disease, arrhythmia, congenital heart conditions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all technical aspects of the design and development of EDAC, our self-service data access control product.
• Lead a team of experienced data engineers and developers, working with the Product Manager and other product teams integrated in the EDE Product Line.
• Form a close relationship with technology vendors of industry-leading data products and help shape and deliver our product roadmap.
• Participate in new technology evaluations to identify opportunities and estimate effort to support the product roadmap with new tools.
• Manage the development team, working closely with the Scrum Master, the Product Manager, the Solution Architect, and other product teams in the product line.
• Run an agile delivery team, clarify requirements, design features, assign tasks in JIRA, support developers, produce and track estimates, oversee the development lifecycle and documentation, and escalate issues to the Product Manager or the Solution Architect as needed.
• Liaise with support and maintenance teams and infrastructure teams providing services to host your product.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software/data engineering and architecture.
• 5+ years of experience in data and analytics delivery initiatives.

• Preparing ingredients and handling baking and other kitchen equipment.

• Accountable for managing the Failure Analysis Team to identify the root cause of failure and propose solutions to various internal and external customers, using data and knowledge from failure identification material, field information, SAP, download data, warranty test stands, strip report data.
• Proactively communicates to the Product Company technical support teams, new types of failure modes and new problem processes. Ensures supporting evidence from Failure Analysis team is concise, accurate and a demonstrates clear understanding of the failure and root cause leading to an improvement of the lifetime of vacuum pumps globally.
• Facilitates the communication with external parties to gather and collate background information of products and processes ensuring a detailed and thorough investigation into failure analysis can be conducted by the Failure Analysis team, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction are delivered.
• Review and approve the failure analysis reports by the Failure Analysis Team for release to customers within agreed time schedules. Where required, raise warranty issues and support Customer Centers and Business Line Managers in the presentation of the Service Technology Centre findings and be the initial contact for all failure communication
• Accountable for the accurate reporting and tracking of product failure modes by product type and the quality of information entered in the failure analysis reporting system. Supports the improvement of the product analysis reporting system to aid identification and documentation of failure modes.
• Creates and presents statistical reports and trend data and provides recommendations for corrective action to be taken in design, manufacturing, the Service Technology Centre, field or at customer sites leading to improvement of life of the product.
• Accountable for the failure analysis team's delivery of warranty decisions. Supports warranty decision communication to customer if required.
• Demonstrates an awareness of the customer and the need for fact based driven decisions when reviewing failure analysis reports and the need for integrity when discussing failure analysis results.
• Manages warranty cost through accuracy and alignment of reporting. Ensures that the warranty cost allocation has been correctly assigned and reviewed by the Failure Analysis team and that the correct SAP processes are adhered to
• Is the external face of the Service Technology Centre, managing customer facing programs, supporting client contact on issues with products in liaison with the Customer Centers and Business Line Managers.
• Represents, and is the communication point at the Service Technology Centre when dealing with Customer Centers, Product Companies and Technical Support teams.
• Accountable for the management, training and development of the Failure Analysis Team to deliver detailed failure analysis to customers. Ensures quality of level 2 reporting is met and educates team on the process for gaining technical support for level 3 reporting. Provides support with prioritization, guidance and technical advice and ensures team meets scheduled timeframes and delivers against customer expectations.
• Liaises with the Service Technology Centre planner in setting the priority and allocation of resource and manpower for warranty analysis within the overall Service Technology Centre plan to ensure timeframes are met, customer expectations are reached, and business targets achieved. Accountable for the management of warranty test stand(s) to drive improvement on warranty failure testing and provides proposals to improve the process and equipment.
• Ensures that all failure analysis activities undertaken by the team are conducted within the boundaries of all applicable regulations, policies and procedures to ensure organizational, safety and health obligations are met. Manages the adherence of all relevant aspects of the failure analysis team to risk control elements.
• Where required, manages multiple Service Technology Centre Failure Analysis Teams within a region, where there is no local Failure Analysis Manager and ensures there is sufficient resource to support warranty analysis.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Engineering, a scientific discipline or equivalent relevant experience
• Strong leadership experience with a minimum of 5 years‘ experience in testing, applications, manufacturing, remanufacturing, field or onsite service
• Solid understanding of manufacturing and service methods and manufacturing or remanufacturing practices with wide product knowledge
