Roles & Responsibilities

Driver - Responsibilities

The work scope for the above job title is as but not limited to the following:

1 The main task of the Driver is to drive the Company lorry to pick up workers, to or from site, office and dormitory etc.

1.1 The Driver must drive the vehicles to the required work sites punctually.

1.2 The Driver must follow the schedule or ad-hoc obtained from the Supervisors and Co-ordinator. The Driver must inform the parties involved if there are any clashes in schedule before proceeding.

1.3 The Driver must inform the Supervisors and Co-ordinator as soon as possible if he is delayed in his schedule. This will enable them to plan their resources efficiently.

1.4 Aside from driving the workers to site, rest of the time will be to support office courier needs.

2 Usage of Company vehicles

2.1 The Driver is to switch off the ignition completely and remove the key when the vehicle is parked and not in use. The Driver must not leave the vehicle in idle mode while waiting.

2.2 The Driver must understand that the Company’s vehicles and attached cash cards are solely to be for Company use. Otherwise, costs will not be reimbursed.

3 Safety

3.1 The Driver must drive and operate the vehicles in a safe manner in accordance to local laws.

3.2 If there are loads on the vehicles, the Driver must ensure the loads are properly secured in accordance with local laws and regulations.

3.3 The Driver must inform the Director or PIC immediately that he is involved in an accident while driving or operating the vehicle. This includes causing damage to third party property.

3.4 The Driver should understand that if the accident is caused by the Driver’s negligence, the Company is entitled to pursue part or all of the claims from him.

3.5 The Driver should also understand if he incurs any traffic offences due to his own negligence, the Company is entitled to pursue part or all of the claims from him.

4 Servicing and Maintenance

4.1 The Driver is to inform the Company if any of the vehicles are unsafe to operate and require repairs. The Driver must not operate the vehicles in such situation.

4.2 The Driver will drive the vehicle to the Company appointed workshop for servicing and maintenance. The Driver will also pick up the vehicle when servicing and maintenance is completed.

4.3 The Driver will drive the vehicles to Inspection Centres as required.

The above is an overview of the work scope and responsibilities of a Driver employed by the Company. It is by no means an exhaustive list. There may be other scope and responsibilities deemed normal by the industry which by default will be included in this Appendix.

Requirements:

Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment.

The job is for a Programme Director (PD) to lead an ERI@N Interdisciplinary Research Programme focusing on Artificial Intelligence applied to Energy Applications. This program will enable AI and digitalization across the energy domain and the selected Programme Director will have to work with and support other ERI@N Programme Directors and lead the increased deployment of AI applications across the energy domain. This could include (but is not limited to) a wide range of applications including AI for future grid applications, predictive failure detection of Energy Storage Systems, optimization of the future hydrogen economy, clean future mobility and smart buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

To assist the Executive Director, in Scientific and Technical matters relating to their individual areas of expertise, the Programme Director will support and / or lead the following activities:

• Participate in or lead research and development, demonstration, and deployment of innovative energy solutions, that entail research in energy systems and alternative energy sources.
• Identify strategic R&D focus and lead technical roadmap development and technology assessments for various energy domains.
• Recommend and support in development of strategic capabilities and core competence in targeted areas.
• Facilitate and lead joint research and development agreements such as Joint Industry Program, Research Collaboration Agreements with Industry or University partners and related programs. Manage projects in the group and be the Principal Investigator (PI) of key projects to ensure projects are executed to meet the scientific / technical targets.
• Provide scientific / technical leadership and mentorship to members of the research group, including relationship management with stakeholders (government agencies, key research partners, NTU Management).
• Advise the research team in preparing grant proposals, intellectual property filings, presentations in meetings, scientific conferences; publishing research papers in journals / conference proceedings as defined in the project scope and agreements.

Job Requirements:

• Master’s / PhD degree in Engineering or Sciences or a related field
• At least 10 years with a strong research track record in fields of relevance to ERI@N (Artificial Intelligence as applied to power grids, renewables & integration, solar cells, hydrogen & fuel cells, energy storage, energy systems or other energy related applications) would be essential.
• Familiarity with both academic and industrial research as well as the funding landscape enabling these research programmes is required.
• Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of individual and professional groups including senior level management in both industry as well as government agencies is required.
• Demonstrated leadership in RD&D in energy research as PI of successful completed multi-year projects/programs; strong publications, or intellectual property track record is essential.
• Able to work in and lead interdisciplinary teams with a wide variety of competences and a high level of diversity.
