We are seeking a Research Fellow who will explore development of new functional materials using pollen or similar materials. These functional materials will have broad potential applications such as stimulus-responsive bioadhesives specifically tailored to the in vivo microenvironment such as water content and pH levels, or mechanical shape morphing devices/structures. These novel materials are engineered to provide robust functions triggered by internal stimuli, e.g., on-demand adhesion and debonding and degradation properties. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the development of chemical fabrication process and characterization and testing of these materials, as well as exploring their potential applications in various areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Play an essential role in the conceptualization and design of experiments.
• Design chemical structures and synthesize polymeric materials to achieve stimuli-responsive and dynamically tunable functionalities.
• Characterize the chemical and physical properties of the functional materials.
• Collaborate with PhD students and visiting scholars working on the project, providing guidance on material synthesis and experimental assistance in materials development and characterization.
• Write papers and publish research results in internationally reputable journals.
• Help to mentor/train junior students through the FYP/URECA programmes.

Requirements

• PhD degree in Chemistry or Materials Science and Engineering
• Rich experience in polymer chemistry and synthesis, mechanical chatacterization and testing
• Good communication and writing skills;

Responsibilities:

• Coordinates and ensure piping testing and reinstatement works are carried out in accordance to Project Specification and schedule.
• Performs activities relating to pipe hydro testing, estimate material take off i.e. blind, testing pumps, drying units to complete works.
• Prepares pre-Job Briefing and Tool Box Talk to workforce prior to start the work activity.
• Promotes job safety and environmental awareness to workers and other persons at site.
• Supervision of all piping works and ensures safety and quality standards as per project requirement.
• Performs inspection and approval of all QA/QC submittals to client.
• Performs surveillance and inspection of piping system to ensure tightness of piping system during testing.
• Manages completion of all required deliverables for test pack completion including isometrics red line markups, piping plans and tie-in lists.
• Enforces safe work practices at job site. To monitors and ensure workers Work in a safety manner and all piping job site are in good and safe condition.
• Attends PSCC (Project Safety Coordination Committee) meeting. Joint Daily inspections, weekly
• Managements inspection and Client audit.
• Responsible for the good house keeping at all time for the shops and erection site

Requirements:

• Minimum 10 years’ field experience in piping works preferably in Oil & Gas industry
• Good knowledge in piping works, able to read P&ID and piping shop drawings
