Experts’ Community Specialist

The Experts Community Specialist assumes a central role in overseeing our regulatory expert group and fostering the growth of our online community of Regulatory professionals. A Research Engineer position is open in the research group of Assistant Professor Zhao Lin, at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS).

The Research Engineer will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) on quadrotor path planning, control, SLAM, swarm path planning, and cooperative transport. The approach will leverage the advantages of both deep reinforcement learning and conventional controls, combining model-based and model-free methods. Strong hardware experience and C++ coding especially related to quadrotor path planning and control are required.

The initial appointment duration is 12 months, which can then be extended based on an evaluation at the end of the initial appointment.

The candidates should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a reputable university, and with strong hardware expertise in aerial robotics.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Marine Engineering Coordination: To Coordinate the multi-disciplinary engineering and design activities for Hull and Marine facilities of FPSO project. Shall participate in Project, Engineering and Supplier Kick off meetings.

Engineering Setup: Coordinate with the engineering disciplines to set up Engineering and Design systems, Engineering Schedule, Master document Register (MDR), Procurement Schedule

Engineering Deliverables; Coordinate with the engineering disciplines to issue all deliverables as per schedule. Shall approve calculations, RFQs and Technical Bid Analsis if authorized by the Marine Engineering Manager. Shall be capable of contributing in defining design concepts during initial phase of the project considering HSE, constructability , operability and maintainability.

Engineering Schedule; Develop Level 3 and Level 4 (MDR) schedules of Marine engineering. The incumbent shall support the Marine Engineerign Manager in maanging schedule and the targets of the project as required.

Management of Changes; Implement engineering change management for the Hull and Marine engineering post design freeze in all disciplines including communication, tracking and approval by the relevant stakeholders

Engineering Interfaces; Coordinate with Engineering disciplines to respond and closeout of Class Society comments, Client Technical Queries, Site Queries and Operation Queries for Hull and Marine

Subcontractor Management; Coordinate with the Ship Yard Engineering subcontractors and Third Party specialists for Hull and Marine facilities.

Engineering Resources; Support Marine Engineering Manager in forecasting and mobilizing engineering and design resources for Marine Engineering

Compliance; Ensure compliance with Company’s Standards and Procedures with specific attention to change management and deviation approval process

Problem Solving; Independently develops solutions to non-recurring problems by analyzing, interpreting and evaluating various precedents and data.

Health, Safety and Quality; Identify and integrate Safety, Quality requirements in the Design to ensure safe operability and maintainabilityEngineering ReviewsSupport Marine Engineering Manager in conducting Risk Assessment and various Design ReviewsDecision MakingIncumbent needs to be make timely engineering decision in case multiple valid solutions to challenges are generated, based on sound engineering practice and project objectives. Shall be capable of working independently to meet project objectives with little or no guidance from the project management or corporate maangement.

Marine Enginering knowledge; To be adequately familiar with the key activities and needs of all the engineering disciplines in Marine Engineering and how these activities interact and are sequenced, and the implications is a major challenge

Dispute Resolution; To be able to deal efficiently, professionally and tactfully with numerous stakeholders who may have different focus and priorities, both internal and external is a challenge

Risk Assessment; Support Engineering Manager and project management in review, risk assessment, and close-out of engineering issues

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with minimum 15 years experience or Masters Degree in Engineering with minimum 12 years experience.
Specialist knowledge of at least one FPSO .
Working knowledge of competing and alternative technologies.
Have adequate knowledge of design codes and regulatory requirements.
Familiar in use of Software, Database systems related to Engineering functions
Familiar with key key activities and needs of all engineering disciplines and how these activities interact and are sequenced.

• Assist clients in professional event planning, packaging and menu selection
• Keep abreast of trends and developments in catering industry
• Actively brainstorming of creative ideas in improving catering services to clients
• Account for sales and profitability of event orders and ensure smooth operations of catering functions

Requirements

• Possess O Level / Diploma / Degree in Business, Marketing with at least 5 years of relevant experience in F & B industry will be an advantage
• Able to converse effectively in English and Mandarin to manage Mandarin speaking clients
• Self discplined, proactive and have strong sense of urgency
• Must be self-driven, dynamic, meticulous, creative and sales oriented
• Outgoing personality, highly motivated, independent individual and yet an inclusive team player

Job Description

• Pulsed plasma actuators have gained significant traction in the research community for their ability to produce enhanced aerodynamic performance with minimal modifications required to the system geometry. Yet while most studies have focused on flow separation control, less attention has been devoted to skin friction reduction. This project aims to examine and optimize the performance of a novel class of pulsed plasma actuators.
• The selected candidate is expected to conduct experiments to characterize both the aerodynamic performance and plasma properties of these actuators, so as to understand the underlying physical mechanisms leading to any observed drag reduction. Extensive use and development of laser-based techniques should be expected, along with ample potential for use of machine learning approaches.

Qualifications

• PhD in Fluid Mechanics, Aerodynamics, Applied Physics, Plasma Physics, or related field. Experience in laser-based diagnostics and/or machine learning approaches is strongly preferred.
