Job Description:
Nursing duties such as but are not limited to:
â–ª Monitoring critical patients in the exotics ward.
â–ª Assisting the exotics veterinarians in the care and treatment of inpatients.
â–ª To actively pursue the acquisition of skills and knowledge in handling exotic animals.
â–ª To be able to work well with the team, show mutual respect, creating a positive culture and environment.
â–ª Attend in-patient rounds and engage in self-learning such as attending continuing development lectures and reading books and journals.
â–ª Assist veterinarians with triage and assist with new case admissions.
â–ª Assist veterinarians and specialists with procedures/surgeries.
â–ª To perform anaesthesia under veterinary supervision and aid with the anaesthesia monitoring and recovery of cases.
â–ª Restraining patients for examination and treatments.
â–ª Cleaning cages/brooders, laundry, food bowls, and making sure the ward area is presentable at all times.
â–ª Feeding patients.
â–ª Discharging patients, preparing patients for surgeries, and postoperative bandaging and recovery.
â–ª You will be required to update medical records and client communication.
â–ª To perform diagnostics such as blood draws, IV placement, and taking radiographs for patients.
Requirements:
Junior Nurse
- Diploma in vet tech or relevant nursing qualification.
- At least one (1) year of work experience in the veterinary industry.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
Senior Nurse
- Degree or Diploma in veterinary technology or relevant nursing qualifications.
- At least five (5) years of work experience in the veterinary industry.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
- A minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience is preferred.
