Data science is an important component of biomedical and translational research, where data of multiple modalities are being constantly generated at unprecedented scale. The Research Data Integration group in the Biomedical Datahub Division of the Bioinformatics Institute (BII), A*STAR, aims to bridge the complexity of computational biology and data science with the needs of biologists and clinicians to drive biological discoveries and predict translational outcomes. One of our immediate challenges is to analyze and integrate and analyze multi-omics, imaging and clinical data generated by biomedical institutes in A*STAR, healthcare institutions and national initiatives in Singapore to improve the usability and interpretability of large-scale multimodal datasets of cancer, metabolic diseases, and other diseases. Job description:

We are developing data platforms in BII Biomed DAR, integrating healthcare data including clinical and research data, for various diseases including cancer, metabolic diseases and skin diseases. We are seeking a computational scientist to develop analytical, statistical and machine learning methodologies and workflows for analysis and integration of large-scale multi-dimensional omics (bulk, single-cell, spatial), perturbation screens, imaging and clinical data) for these data platforms. The candidate is expected to drive data science research to uncover underlying diseases biology, druggable targets and develop personalized medicine approaches. This position offers the candidate an opportunity to work closely with a team of clinicians, wet-lab scientists and computational biologists. He/She is also expected to drive high impact publications and manage large-scale projects, include data management.

Duties to Perform:

The senior Gas Engineer will work on designing, tendering, and monitoring the installation of bulk gas and special gas systems for industrial properties in semiconductors, electronics, biopharma, and related industries. The gas systems include bulk gases, high-purity inert gases, flammable gases, corrosive gases, hazardous gases, and related distribution networks.

The senior Gas Engineer will collate the client’s capacity requirements and specifications and prepare the conceptual design, make a detailed design for system capacity, configuration, schematic, P&ID, PFD, layout, distribution, and system parameters, and prepare documents like the scope of work, reports, specifications, standards, logistics, and detailed drawings for tender. He or she will review proposals from contractors and continue to support them during installation when required.

The successful candidate will work closely with other disciplines such as architects, civil, cleanroom, electrical, automation, mechanical, and construction engineers, as well as CAD/ BIM designer in designing and delivering the project.

Requirements:

You should have a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or equivalent.

Data science is an important component of biomedical and translational research, where data of multiple modalities are being constantly generated at unprecedented scale. Job Requirements

• PhD degree in chemistry, materials science and engineering, or chemical engineering.
• Ample research experience in catalyst design and synthesis (particularly single atom catalysts and metal oxide catalysts), high entropy nanomaterials
• Ample research experience in polymer synthesis (particularly ATRP, RAFT and ROMP), biomaterials synthesis, and recycling and upcycling of polymers and biomaterials
• Solid background/experience in polymeric materials and polymer recycling and upcycling.

The role will consist of a technical component, with a focus on material testing as well as designing new packaging systems. You will perform various types of testing for medical packaging materials and sterile barrier systems (packaging for sterile medical devices). You will design and create prototypes to support new sales growth and customer retention and assist external as well as internal customers with technical projects/package testing and consulting. You will own and manage smooth operation of a technical development center under the supervision of a senior engineer.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform various types of physical, mechanical, analytical and integrity testing for medical device packaging materials and packaging systems

• Ensure that testing and lab procedures are performed safely. Ensure personal safety and routinely evaluate equipment for potential safety risks

• Design and create package prototypes using 2d and 3d software based on requests / inputs received from sales team. Maintain and control proper inventory of packaging materials, test material and test equipment accessories

• Maintenance of Lab equipment - Write/update work instructions, procedures, calibration instructions and test methods as required

• Liaise and collaborate with the technical team members at other global sites on technical topics and lab related activities

• Liaise and collaborate with external test labs, sterilization partners and contract manufacturing facilities, as required

• Communicate effectively with other Oliver employees both locally and globally

• Identify gaps and constantly strive to update technical capabilities of the Technical Development Center

• Provide expertise in material selection and package design of sterile barrier systems in order to support new sales growth and customer retention

• Occasionally, travel within APAC region to support our customers in the field including trial runs, troubleshooting customer processes and technical sales activities

• Actively support customer’s technical teams on new product introductions and validations

• Support the QA department with technical assessment of CAPA investigations

• Support product change notifications for customers

• Work closely within the Technical team to develop viable packaging solutions

• Qualify/Test new materials as per ISO 11607 – Ensure capability levels through thoughtful analysis and rigorous testing

• Design new products that can deliver Six Sigma process capability levels. Support/Improve existing product portfolio

Basic Qualifications

• B.S in Packaging engineering, chemical or mechanical engineering preferred. Candidates with a

graduate diploma in a similar engineering discipline may also apply

• 3-5yrs experience in medical device packaging

• 2d and 3d CAD knowledge / experience desired (AutoCAD 2d and Solidworks 3d preferred)

• Ability to stand and perform physical testing required.

• Strong listening ability and patience

• Ability to adapt to different working styles and cultures

• Positive attitude, ability to work under pressure and people oriented

• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Works well with people across the organization
