Responsibilities

• Take the lead to ensure systems and processes relating to customer risk models, coverage assessments and reports are well documented and maintained;

The World Economic Forum (the Forum) is an International Organisation for Public-Private Cooperation, engaging global leaders to shape major agendas across sectors. Its Centre for Health and Healthcare focuses on enhancing healthcare systems by scaling solutions for resilience, efficiency, and equity through diverse stakeholder engagement.

The Centre has launched the “Digital Healthcare Transformation (DHT) Initiative,” a multi-year program to boost public-private partnerships in digital health, data, and AI. This initiative complements the Global Health Equity Network (GHEN), which promotes health equity and patient-centred system transformation.

Singapore, a leader in healthcare delivery and equity due to its investment in digital health, will be highlighted as a World Economic Forum Centre for Health and a Healthcare Country Lighthouse. This collaboration aims to showcase Singapore’s healthcare success globally and identify opportunities for Public-Private Partnerships to advance health equity through digital transformation.

Job Description

The Fellowship role will manage projects and provide expertise on Health Equity, access to care, and social determinants of health. The Fellow will support the Forum’s work in developing Singapore as a Country Lighthouse, conduct research on its health system transformation, and share insights on health equity. He/She will also coordinate with regional working groups and engage with local and global partners, including the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) Network and the Accelerators Network, and contribute to the Forum's Health Equity strategy and broader global efforts.

The Health Equity effort in Singapore as well as the proposed pilot place-based change programme(s) will link to a broader global Global Health Equity strategy and pre-existing place-based change work (launching by the GHEN in 2024). This will provide existing best practice and networks that can be adapted to the new regional efforts in ASEAN.

This role is based in Singapore and hosted within the NUS Centre for Research in Health Systems Performance (CRiHSP). The Fellow will be involved in projects from the Forum’s Centre for Health and Healthcare. The Fellow will report directly to the NUS Principal Investigator, as well as to the Forum's Lead for Health Equity.

The fellowship is for 3 years (or until January 2028, whichever comes first, if applicable). Initially, a 1-year contract will be offered, renewable based on performance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Research and draft a White Paper on Singapore’s health system transformation journey, including leading interviews with key Health Equity stakeholders and identifying future opportunities for collaboration.
• Develop and execute a dissemination plan for key learnings from the paper, including public engagement opportunities and convening interested stakeholders to share best practice.
• Support the broader GHEN team to incubate and manage a regional public-private working group focused on specific Health Equity gaps and opportunities identified in the research, to support the building on existing Singapore-led work in Southeast Asia to scale regional health equity development and innovation; and incorporating key topics in health equity such as access, trust, and impact measurement.
• Contribute to the Forum’s broader global Health Equity strategy with Singapore-based insights and case studies - linking also to the Digital Healthcare Transformation Initiative in partnership with the Digital Healthcare Transformation Fellow.
• Drive partner engagement opportunities in Singapore with all relevant stakeholder groups across sectors.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in relevant fields such as public health, healthcare policy, or medicine.

Research Fellow (postdoc) positions in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at National University of Singapore (NUS).

The primary objectives of these two positions are to foster a profound design principle towards novel, cost-effective electrocatalysts and reactors for the efficient conversion of CO2/CO into liquid fuels. Furthermore, these roles will involve exploring the potential for synergizing biochemistry and electrochemistry, with the overarching goal of enhancing selectivity and efficiency in the conversion of CO2 into multi-carbon products. We are looking for a motivated bioinformatics specialist who is keen on studying how microbes contribute to common skin diseases such as eczema and acne. Our lab is focused on leveraging new technologies to better study microbial populations and their impact on human health. We have extensive experience in metagenomic analysis in clinically or commercially important contexts such as uncovering distinct microbial communities in households affected by paediatric eczema (PMID: 35318044) and revealing the microbial basis of body odour in teenagers (PMID: 30497517). We are now focusing on applying various -omics capabilities to larger sized disease cohorts to understand how microbial pathways and biomarkers change with disease progression and treatment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment, with unique access to next-generation sequencing technologies and a wide range of samples. Project findings will have direct applications to ongoing and new microbiome research projects in the lab, particularly in skin diseases.

• Analyse monthly financial results and business drivers and provide supporting commentary on the variances between actual and budget/forecast

We are looking for a qualified individual to be involved in the below project. The candidate will work with a dynamic team to study the metabolic regulation of immune cells during the NASH to NASH-HCC progression.

Metabolic regulation of immune dysfunction during the progression of NASH to NASH-HCC

Description:

The lack of effective treatments for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and NASH-associated hepatocellular carcinoma (NASH-HCC) underscores the need to understand the transition from NASH to NASH-HCC. Identifying why some NASH patients develop HCC while others do not is a significant challenge, with growing evidence indicating that immune dysregulation plays a crucial role in this progression. The interstitial space, where cells receive nutrients and signals, significantly impacts immune function, suggesting that understanding the liver"s metabolic environment could reveal how immune cells behave during NASH progression to HCC. By profiling interstitial fluid metabolism and single-cell transcriptomics, the team aims to understand the metabolic regulation of the immune landscape in NASH to NASH-HCC progression. Using a high-fat, high-fructose, and high-cholesterol dietary mouse model that mirrors human progression, the team will study the metabolic and immune changes leading to NASH-HCC. In addition, the team’s preliminary findings show immune alterations and reduced levels of the bile acid hyodeoxycholic acid (HDCA) during NASH-HCC transition. The identified candidate will also test the potential of HDCA in preventing NASH to HCC transition, and further explore HDCA"s effects on immune cells.

Job responsibilities:
