A) KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Social Worker works in the field of Social Work. He/She is qualified and trained to provide interventions, perform community work and update the professional practice in Social Work. He/She will conduct casework, groupwork as well as community development programmes to address service gaps. He/She will need to provide supervision to junior Social Worker(s) and/or Social Work Associate.

1. Case Work Management

a) Conduct needs and intake assessments of client/family and provided social report with recommendations, to allow them to live independently and be participative in the community.

b) Conduct case work management for cases of different risk levels.

c) Coordinating service referrals and access to community resource.

d) Able to provide psycho-emotional support for clients and caregivers.temporary

e) Build partnerships and collaborate with other agencies to tap on community resources to provide intervention support to clients and empower/enable clients e.g. for the smooth transition of clients back to community, vocational pursuit and/or independent community living etc.

f) Participate and contribute professionally as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in SPD. Work with therapists and related staff for client’s needs and involve in case discussions.

g) Document sessions/interventions accurately and consistently, and to maintain case files and prepare reports according to the required documentation standard with minimal supervision.

h) Conduct closure of cases upon achieving sustainable service outcomes for clients with minimal supervision.

2. Community Work and Outreach

a) Identify the changing trends and needs of clients.

b) Initiate and execute outreach activities so that more persons with disabilities can benefit from the department’s programmes.

c) Participate in door-knocking outreach operations.

d) Participate in stakeholders/partners’ engagement, where appropriate, with the intention to build capability of stakeholders/partners in the community.

3. Caregiver Support, Groupwork and Training

a) Lead and implement caregiver support, conduct psycho-educational training, and organise support groups.

b) Conduct and evaluate group works.

c) Provide psycho-emotional support for caregivers.

4. Project Management

a) Lead and drive community projects and social work initiatives e.g. caregiver wellness programme, resources, and initiatives.

5. Professional Development / Supervision

a) Participate in developmental programs and supervision for personal and professional growth and development.

b) Maintain minimum requirements for renewal of membership with professional association.

c) Participate in research.

d) Participate in professional courses to acquire specialised knowledge and skills.

6. Administration & Operations

a) Provide data and information for purpose of department’s progress reports, and data analysis for planning and reporting.

b) Work on cross-divisional projects as assigned from time to time.

c) To support, where needed, in weekday night and weekends outreach and engagement events/activities.

B) JOB HOLDER REQUIREMENT & COMPETENCIES

• Possess Degree in Social Work or Degree with a Graduate Diploma in Social Work from an accredited institution.
• Accredited as a Registered Social Worker (RSW)
• Preferably with 2-3 years of social work experience

The Singapore National Eye Centre/Singapore Eye Research Institute (SNEC/SERI), in collaboration with Nanyang Technological University (NTU), is seeking a highly qualified individual to take on a significant role in this exciting and rapidly developing research direction at the cross-roads of healthcare and artificial intelligence.

He/ She will be expected, but not limited to:

• Develop machine-learning and deep-learning solutions to address current clinical challenges, including segmentation, detection, and prediction, through the use of large-scale medical/ophthalmic images and data from state-of-the-art clinical platforms.
• Perform research in medical image processing and develop novel approaches to multimodal imaging (2D and 3D) using imaging systems ranging from current clinical systems to novel imaging prototypes.
• Conduct and coordinate research within SNEC/SERI and NTU in line with its research strategy and under the direction and supervision of the Principal Investigators and Collaborators.
• Manage these research projects in a team-based, cross-functional research environment, which include supervising doctoral and master students, research assistants, and technical and other support staff.
• Publish research outcomes in appropriate journals of international standing and to publish and disseminate the result of research and scholarship in other reputable outlets.
• Attend and present research findings and papers at academic and professional conferences, and to contribute to the external visibility of the department.
• Draft research report for Principal Investigators.
• Undertake specific roles and management functions as may be reasonably required by the Principal Investigators.
• Attend meetings and to participate (where necessary) in other committees and working groups within SNEC/SERI and NTU.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety in all aspects of work.

Job Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Information Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Previous experience in OCT, software development in OCT and OCT signal analysis would be an advantage.
• Possess good programming and image processing skills (e.g., MATLAB, Python).
• Able to work independently, as well as in a team-based, cross-functional research team.
