Position Purpose
The Compliance function is at the heart of BNP Paribas’ risk management. One of the pillars of the Group’s internal control setup, Compliance teams work both independently and in close partnership with the Business to adapt to the evolution of the Group’s activities and the requirements of the regulators. Compliance teams contribute to maintaining the reputation of BNP Paribas and the trust of our clients, thanks to their strong control of non-compliance risks, allowing everyone to work with confidence.
The Head of APAC CIB AML TM Level 2 Hub is a key senior role in the APAC Compliance organisation.
The incumbent shall lead the CIB investigation hub and serve the APAC Local FS teams (7 territories), acting as a point of contact for Local Compliance teams within the region, supporting with guidance and advisory.
He/she shall protect the Group on existing and emerging Compliance risks through active engagement with local FS heads/MLROs and Head Office.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Head of APAC CIB AML TM Level 2 Hub include:
Leadership and Oversight:
• Provide leadership and oversight to the APAC Transaction Monitoring & AML Advisory Team (CIB L2 Hub)
• Ensure there is a proper and effective governance for APAC and provide necessary oversight of local FS teams over CIB L2 Hub.
• Capacity planning for the CIB Hub, by ensuring volume management and quality of the investigations.
• Provide effective guidance to the team members when required and ensure the guidelines provided in CIB L2 SOP are updated.
• Ensure team members are equipped with understanding of the current money laundering and terrorist financing issues, including policies, procedures, regulations, industry best practice, criminal typologies and developing trends.
• Identifying and managing ML/FT risks by ensuring timely escalation to Compliance Management for overdue alerts, alert backlogs and alerts identified with ML/FT risks and implementing monitoring measures where required.
• Proactively share feedback and insights with the Head of APAC FS, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Transaction Monitoring and Investigations:
• Manage the APAC L2 CIB Hub and provide support to the local compliance teams on AML and TM matters
• Ensure teams are well trained and equipped to manage the emerging risks within the AML landscape
• Coordinate with the Sanctions, KYC and Advisory teams to ensure incorporation of new requirements as per Bank’s policies ad industry practice
• Ensure compliance with the SLA, local FS requirements and Group Policy/ Procedures, as part of the investigation process
Efficiencies:
• Continuous identification of areas for further efficiencies and automation, ensuring full adherence to the Group framework and with Local FS requirements
Reporting and Analysis:
• Prepare, provide support, and coordinate all required reports, updates, and dashboards.
• Assist in identifying systemic procedural weaknesses and additional training requirements related to suspicious activity and transaction reporting.
Project Coordination and Support:
• Actively contribute to new projects within the L2 scope of work, demonstrating strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Assist with the management of AML/CTF CIB tools in APAC territories, including deployment, decommissioning, and ongoing maintenance.
• Coordinate and participate in ad hoc projects, risk assessments, and audit/regulatory inspections.
• Provide general support to the APAC Head of AML Adv., NAP & Corporate Coverage Compliance.
• Provide advisory support to senior/regional management, Territory Compliance teams, businesses and functions in the APAC region on complex AML/CTF matters and payment transparency related issues;

Experience and Qualifications required
• At least 15 + years’ experience in Compliance / AML areas with exposure to Transaction Monitoring and AML in an international banking organization(s).
• Excellent working knowledge of APAC regulations as well as their practical application.
• Senior professional with AML/TF related industry experience. This will entail sufficient experience with and a good understanding of the AML/TF environment & the key challenges and developments faced by the business and the industry.
• Knowledge on CIB Products such as Cash Management, Trade, Securities, Correspondent Banking, etc.
• Candidates with related AML Qualifications such as ICA diploma in AML and/or ACAMS will have added advantage.
