About the role
You will be a key member of the team responsible for doing economic research for the Asia Global Macro Service, one of Oxford Economics leading subscription products.
Reporting to the Head of Asia Economics, you will be responsible for covering the economies of Korea and Taiwan and as well as doing thematic work on the region. This will entail developing research ideas and helping to produce macroeconomic forecasts as part of our Global Macro Service. This is a writing-intensive position, where you will be expected to regularly produce reports.
You will also be required to present to clients and field their queries in the first instance. This is an exciting opportunity in a fast-growing part of the company.
You will be looking primarily at themes affecting North Asian economies from a top-down macro perspective. Collaborating with the rest of the Asia macro team and our macro teams globally, you will also be expected to contribute to shaping our view and research themes on the region.
You have a flair for good writing and are a confident presenter who enjoys innovative research and can build strong client relationships over time.
Key Responsibilities
Helping to set the view on several North-Asian economies.
Overseeing and producing economic forecasts for the economies you cover.
Writing analytical research and presenting macroeconomic research themes
Interacting with clients/prospects, presenting at client events
Person Specification
The profile, orientation, and skills that you will bring to the team include:
- More than 8 years’ experience as a macroeconomist covering Asian economies.
- Strong track record in forecasting and writing independent research reports to tight deadlines
- Excellent academic training with an advanced degree in economics – a top Masters or a Doctorate will help you stand out.About the role

You will be looking primarily at themes affecting the Greater China region from a top-down macro perspective, but you will also be expected to be contribute to shaping our view and research themes on the region. Collaborating with the rest of the Asia macro team and our regional macro teams globally will be a central part of your role.
You have a flair for good writing and are a confident presenter who enjoys presenting innovative research and can build strong client relationships over time.

- Overseeing and producing the forecast for some of the economies of Greater China.
