The College of Integrative Studies (CIS) at Singapore Management University (SMU) invites applications for a full-time Lead Faculty Fellow for SMU's student accommodation, Prinsep Street Residences (PSR). The Fellow will also concurrently be appointed as a faculty member of the College of Integrative Studies and may hold either a tenure track or term-track appointment, commensurate with his or her qualifications.

The Lead Faculty Fellowship is a renewable 4-year administrative appointment. Tasked to cultivate a vibrant intellectual and residential life at PSR, the LFF should be a people-oriented faculty administrator experienced in operating in a dynamic environment and should possess strong leadership and people skills, aptitude for mentoring, and significant experience in similar roles demanding a high level of service and organisational responsibility.

The successful candidate will:

For CIS

• Undertake Undergraduate teaching on the university’s Core Curriculum, especially on the Freshman Big Questions team-taught module; and provide mentoring/advising to CIS students.
• Engage in disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and/or pedagogical research and publications, to an extent commensurate with (or an inverse proportion to) the high service load required of the role

For PSR

• Provide overall leadership on the ground for the PSR admin team and the undergraduate collegiate experience at PSR.
• Manage PSR’s biannual admissions exercise as well as the selection and training of student leaders (Resident Seniors and Block Leaders).
• Reside at PSR and be based in an on-site office and be available to students during the week and on some evenings and some weekends. The successful candidate will be entitled to free accommodation at PSR.
• Oversee, with the support of the Associate Fellows (also faculty) of PSR, the College of Graduate Research Studies Fellow (who also resides at PSR), the admin team and student leaders, in organising residence-based events and activities
• Act as a main point of contact between the administrative staff of the different departments at SMU responsible for the effective functioning of the residence and the PSR student experience (eg: building maintenance, student counselling services, etc).

Applicants should have a PhD degree in hand at the time of application, a track record of excellent teaching and/or experience in active and blended learning pedagogy, and related experience in overseeing residential colleges or similar environments. About the Role:

This position will lead the efforts to connect Korean startups with opportunities in Singapore and Southeast Asia. We are interested in candidates who are able to push the boundaries of research and teaching in what might conventionally be understood as “Urban Studies”. Candidates might have thematic research and teaching interests in areas such as, but not limited to, urban infrastructures (including smart cities), urban sustainability, urban ecosystems and ecology and/or coupled human-natural systems in cities. Candidates that can demonstrate bold interdisciplinarity in both research and teaching are particularly encouraged to apply, as are those with demonstrable experience conducting research in and on cities in Asia.

• Design and deliver postgraduate a course on “Urban Studies: Theory and Method” to a diverse, multidisciplinary postgraduate audience
• As necessary, design elective courses that will be delivered as part of the Asian Urbanisms Master’s and PhD programmes
• Attract and supervise postgraduate research students
• Contribute to undergraduate teaching for the SMU Core Curriculum (see ​​https://cis.smu.edu.sg/core-curriculum/overview)
• Conceptualise and execute high quality research, and develop grant applications, on urban-related issues in Asia, broadly defined

Job Requirement

The College of Integrative Studies (CIS) at Singapore Management University (SMU) invites applications for the full-time term-track position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer of Economics (Education).

The successful candidate will:
(i) Deliver a total of 8 classes of Undergraduate courses per year assigned by the College in consultation with the individual faculty member, especially the team-taught mandatory Freshman Economics and Society module;
(ii) Develop teaching and learning materials for the course curricula, including online material, videos, test banks, grading rubrics, adaptive learning tools, handouts, cases, and textbook, where appropriate (for the team-taught Economics and Society an existing syllabus exists);
(iii) Provide guidance to students regarding the relevant course material, as well as general programme planning, course selection and related academic matters;
(iv) Provide service to the School, including participation in events, outreach activities, and student mentoring.
Applicants should have a PhD degree in Economics, experience in active and blended learning pedagogy, and a track record of excellent teaching. Experience in teaching entry-level economics courses and an interest in multidisciplinary work (teaching and/or research) encompassing societal elements is desirable.
