The dormitory supervisor resides in the program’s summer dormitory, monitors program participants in the evening and overnight, and provides supervision on program field trips. The dormitory supervisor also supervises the residential staff and program tutors, who are primarily undergraduate students, and serves as a liaison between the Upward Bound staff and staff from Boston University's Office of Residence Life and Office of Residential Safety. The dormitory supervisor also helps with delivering tutor training. The dormitory supervisor is responsible for enforcing program policies and, in conjunction with the Office of Residence Life, responding to medical and non-medical emergencies. The dormitory supervisor also coordinates evening tutorials and recreational activities for program participants. This is an eight week position which includes the week prior to and after the summer program. Housing is provided for seven weeks.

Job requirements:

Completed a Bachelor’s degree; 2 years’ experience as a residence hall assistant; 1- 2 years’ experience working with high school age population; supervisory experience a plus; and satisfactory CORI check.

Job Description:

We're looking for a Backend Server Developer.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with frontend developers, game designers, and artists to ensure smooth integration and technical compatibility of backend features within mobile gaming experiences.
• Architect and implement server infrastructures, microservices, and cloud-based solutions specifically designed for gaming applications.
• Create and develop server-side APIs that are efficient, secure, and maintainable.
• Oversee the development, optimization, and maintenance of backend server systems for mobile games.
• Plan the project roadmap and managing the backlog, server logic, server-client communication, deployment processes, data storage solutions, capacity scaling, and server integration.
• Utilizing cloud computing services such as AWS or GCP to deploy and manage the backend infrastructure for our mobile games.
• Implement security protocols to safeguard player data, maintain compliance with privacy regulations, and ensure server integrity and security against threats such as DDoS attacks.
• Monitor and analyze server performance metrics during high-traffic periods, identifying opportunities for optimization and enhancement.
• Code review and give feedback and suggestions to improve code base in terms of efficiency and readability.

Job Requirements:

• Singaporean
• Education: Possess Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related field OR equivalent work experience
• 2 or more years of experience in production software development and/or backend operations
• Deep knowledge on relational database for configuring database, designing efficient tables and query.
• Ability to design and write efficient setup and deployment scripts for application deployment
• Experience in Linux configuration and administration
• Experience with distributed Source Code Management (SCM) tools, e.g. Git
• Proficiency in developing (C++ / Python / JavaScript / Java / Go / Lua) and managing backend services for Unity engine
• Prior experience in working cloud applications on AWS or Google Cloud Platform
• Ability to design and setup high availability infrastructure in AWS across availability zones and availability regions
