Overview of Position

Vascular technologists are a highly specialized group of allied health professionals who perform non-invasive studies using ultrasound and blood pressure measurements to assess for vascular diseases or disorders. They are important members of the vascular and surgical team; they assist physicians in the planning and management of a patient’s treatment.

Local vascular technologists are trained on-the-job. They typically work with a high level of independence as they are required to compile information gathered from a series of vascular related examinations to give a preliminary impression for the physicians. In order to do this, vascular technologists are required to have adequate training in vascular scanning techniques, physiological testing as well as have an in-depth knowledge about vascular disease.

A minimum of two years training is required for a vascular technologist trainee to be competent in all aspects of vascular testing. A professional certification awarded by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) is required at the end of training.

Vascular technologists work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment. Vascular studies typically take between 30 minutes to as long as 2-3 hours depending on the number of scans ordered.

Responsibilities

• Finger/ankle/toe-brachial pressure index studies for evaluation of peripheral arterial diseases. In relatively fit patients, exercise ankle-brachial index can be performed to determine the severity of claudication in the lower limb (pain in lower limb muscles as a result of impaired blood flow) when they are on the move.
• Arterial studies for lower and upper extremities for evaluation of peripheral arterial disease. For patients who present with intermittent claudication, ulcers/gangrene in the extremities etc.
• Carotid (neck) arteries for blockages.
• Screening and surveillance of abdominal aorta, iliac and visceral (renal, mesenteric and celiac etc) arteries for disorders like aneurysm (abnormally large arteries), dissection (tear in the wall of the artery), blockages in the arteries, follow-up for post stent insertion or bypass surgery.
• Pre-operative scan for arterio-venous fistula creation (for dialysis) to determine the patency and lumen diameters of blood vessels in the upper or lower limbs.
• Surveillance study of arterio-venous fistula or graft when difficulties are encountered during dialysis eg. Increase arterial or venous pressures, difficulties in needling etc.
• Venous studies of the upper and lower limbs for deep vein thrombosis (blood clot).
• Varicose veins/venous reflux studies for chronic venous insufficiency, varicose veins, spider veins etc.
• Pre-cardiac or vascular surgery screening/assessment to determine lumen diameters of conduits for harvest. They include great saphenous veins, radial arteries and internal mammary arteries.
• Specialised vascular studies for compression syndrome like thoracic outlet syndrome for the upper limb, May-Thurner syndrome (compression of left iliac vein), nutcracker syndrome (compression of left renal vein), median arcuate ligament syndrome (compression of celiac artery) etc.
• Transcutaneous oxygen pressure (TCPO2) studies to detect viable tissue in the extremities to determine healing of wound or determine optimum amputation level.
• Intra-operative scanning of vessels for difficult cases.

Requirements

• Degree in Biomedical Sciences/Medical Technology/Nursing/Biotechnology /Life Sciences.
• Candidates with Degree in other majors are also welcome to apply. Candidates should have at least a Pass in A Levels Biology and O Levels Physics.
• Candidates with relevant work experience in ultrasound/vascular ultrasound would be an added advantage.
• Candidates without ultrasound experience are also welcome to apply. A two years on-the-job training will be provided.

Once launched, He/She will seamlessly hand over the business to the Customer Service and Demand/Supply Planning teams. This planner is to work with cluster Brand Development, R&D, and the cross functional innovation project teams (IPTs), managing Innovation and Renovation projects to and On Time In Full (OTIF) launch. This includes development and management of timelines with the combined project team for each project, as well as conflict resolution when issues that threaten OTIF delivery arise.

· Manage new item set up for items introduced to the cluster via UL International through coordination with MDM, Finance, local and strategic SC, Procurement, brand and CD.

· Comfortable navigating Unilever support systems to provide logistic information for UI clusters.

· Supports in fulfilling regulatory requirements of market under you and unlock documentation needed from cross functional team

· Partner with cluster Brand Building and Customer Development to validate volumes and business case for new sourcing.

· Build and maintain innovation timeline with inputs from broader project team, holding cross-functional team members accountable for on-time delivery of their tasks to ensure key milestones are achieved OTIF

· Support monthly NPD calls with UI Senior Leadership and cross functional team to evaluate risk and escalate where necessary

· Update and communicate risk management plans developed by project team

· Support the establishment of Service Level Agreements with Sourcing Units including: Quality Requirements, Lead Time, MOQ/Order Increment and other identified cluster requirements.

· Deliver SC KPI to Target. Eg: Project OTIF, Stock Levels, Cost.

· Further develop proper NPD hand off strategy with SC counterparts once projects have been delivered on time and in full

· Improve ways of working across the UI Hubs to leverage NPD best practice to fit the dynamic organization of UI

· Develop deep category expertise over time in Nutrition and be passionate about the category in general.

About the Role:

As the manager of APAC-TSC (Technical Support Centre), he is responsible for formulating, enforcing and supporting in the countries of the APAC region for all repair services / technical issues. The contents of support include introduction of repair service & field service, understanding of service level (quality / cost improvement / WIP management) in BC, business improvement, and various problem solving. In addition, he is also in charge of contact work with Global manufacturing HQ (OMSC / OSTE / OSTA), and, as a Japanese expatriate, he is also the main contact point for technical services related to Olympus Tokyo.

Roles and responsibilities:

· Communicate with OT/OSTE/OSTA (Global HQ and MBC) and formulation and execution of regional (APAC area) technical/repair service strategy.

· Achieve APAC Medical Repair target and communicate with global HQ for consideration of revision necessity for the target.

· Create/submit periodical repair service activity report in English and Japanese language to explain regional repair service activities and the progress of medical repair service priority measures.

· Participate in global service meetings and make consensus for service strategy from a global perspective in English and Japanese language.

· Communicate with global HQ to input the request from APAC for new products and create the APAC medical repair service strategy for new generation products.

· Communicate with other regions to benchmark their activity and introduce that to APAC region.

· Reinforcement of repair reduction of medical equipment in corporate with global HQ and MBC.

· Examination and promotion of regional repair system optimization.

· Introduction of repair service & field service,

· Understanding of S-BC’s service level (quality / cost improvement / WIP management), and maintaining and improving the quality of regional repair services of endoscopy products.

· Improving of the cost structure that can contribute to the medical service business.

· Strengthening / optimizing the local organization of APAC technical service department and developing next leaders (localize).

· Compliance to CHIP/GDPMDS requirement.

What we are looking for:

· Possesses a Degree in Engineering with related experience in Marketing or a Degree in any Business discipline with related experience/knowledge of engineering in the medical field.
