The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant for “Cardiovascular Translational Research Programme, Project RESET Theme 2” in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is widely recognised as the top disease burden locally and internationally, accounting for approximately 30% of local deaths in 2015. Research data has revealed that Singaporeans suffer from the onset of CVD approximately 10 years younger as compared to westerners. Furthermore, the 5-year death rate from heart failure is approximately 50%, which is significantly higher than some well-known cancers. However, despite the threat and adverse impact of CVD, global funding for CVD research lags severely behind Cancer research. Comparatively, in 2018, there was only one drug approved by FDA for CVD versus 16 drugs for Cancer. Therefore, there is a vital need for new medicines and treatment approaches for CVD. Appointments will be made on a contract basis with the possibility of extension.

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager/Manager (Grant Administrator) to assist the Deputy Director (Resource Management) in grant administration and management for the Skin Research Institute of Singapore and A*STAR Skin Research Labs

Roles & Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be expected to:

• Work with the Deputy Director (Resource Management) and Director Corporate Services for the administration of the grant calls as part of a “Grantor role” which include, but are not limited to:

* Grant issuance including preparing for roadshows, sending out emails to announce the grant call, ensuring all relevant documents such as grant info sheet, application form, budget template etc. are in place

* Post grant call closure matters such as performing completeness checks, collating all complete applications, organizing proposal review meetings, compiling evaluation scores, preparation of meeting agenda, slides and recording of minutes, grant outcome announcement, preparation of Letters of Award, reporting templates, budget schedules etc.

* Perform the role of “Officer-in-charge” for the Grant(s);

* Verify and monitor claims for grant expenses for the Grant.

· "Grantee" Grant management role - Work with colleagues and Principal Investigators (PIs) for pre-award and post award management of a full suite of Grants (from A*STAR, NRF, NMRC etc.) which include, but are not limited to:

• Liaising with funders and collaborating institutions on grant-related matters;
• Supporting PIs in grant administration and reporting, and ensure compliance with grants terms and conditions;
• Monitoring project progress and fund utilization;
• Supporting PIs on budgeting and cashflow projections to facilitate submission of grant applications;
• Supporting PIs on grant variations such as budget virement, change in scope, grant extension etc.
• Assist in preparation of internal control measures including the required audits;
• Assist in preparation of management reports and presentations;
• Work closely with colleagues to maintain accurate and current records of grant information at all times;
• Liaise with colleagues and A*STAR Finance in project accounts creation and activation for newly awarded grants;
• Provide secretariat and logistics support for SRIS meetings and events as and when required;
• Other ad-hoc duties, assignments and projects as may be assigned by Executive Director or Director, SRIS and A*SRL.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum qualifications – bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or related fields with at least 5 years of relevant experience in grants management.

What’s the role?

The MRTA is currently looking for two (2) distinct individuals who can ensure safety, defect free and efficient operations through the regular upkeep of equipment and tools in the most cost efficient and timely manner.

1) Mechanical Preventive Maintenance Planner

This role is responsible for the planning of Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Proactive Maintenance activities including any other 3rd party assets maintained by Shell Jurong Island (SJI).

As a Maintenance Preventive Mechanical Planner, you will perform the following:

• Develop and execute gap closure plans as part of AMS (MEC & ME)
• Custodian of SJI 52 weeks look ahead plans for Preventive Maintenance (PM planner) schedule.
• Carry out advanced planning for Preventive Maintenance Activities for 52 weeks plan.
• Coordinate with Field Execution Engineers to work out a long-term maintenance strategy for SJI in collaboration with Engineering, Technology and Operations.
• Coordinate and engage Operations, Maintenance, Subject Matter Experts (SME) of RCM, IPF, WIMs, ESP to ensure all maintenance plan are prioritized and challenged.
• Trigger the deferral process and ensure all deferrals are managed and executed timely. Custodian of PM deferral document records. Trigger periodic PM plan reviews with Production & SME and recommend necessary actions to continuously improve SJI PM execution performance.
• Conduct yearly budget planning & cost estimation.
• Plan, track and cost accuracy and provide inputs to improve contract strategy.
• Ensure PM plan are scheduled accordingly and executed before their due dates. Accountable to ensure no overdue of all RCM, IPF and WIMs/RBI related PM works.
• Contribute and participate actively in site reliability improvements. Provide feedback on effectiveness of preventive maintenance generated from AMS ME processes (RCM, IPF, WIMs, etc).

2) Mechanical Corrective Maintenance Planner

As a Mechanical Corrective Mechanical Maintenance (CM) Planner, you will provide reactive planning for CM activities in Shell Jurong Island (SJI). i.e., developing efficient work plans (tasks, sequences, parts/materials, craft/manpower and resources) for corrective maintenance plans in.

As a Mechanical Corrective Maintenance Planner, you will perform the following:

• Coordinate and engage Operations/ Operation Maintenance Coordinator (OMCs) to ensure all job request are clear and concise and maintenance work orders are prioritized and challenged.
• Assist in budget planning based on past years cost trending. Plan, track, and cost accuracy, and
• provide inputs to improve contract strategy.
• Ensure CM plans are scheduled accordingly and executed before their due dates. Accountable to ensure no overdue of all CM works. This will include the necessary materials and services (resource) procurement and availability.
• Contribute and participate actively in site reliability improvements. Provide feedback on
• effectiveness of corrective maintenance.

Moreover, being part of the MRTA, you will also perform the following responsibilities:

• Compliance to HSSE standards and requirements to make SJI a safe place to work, and accountable for all assigned Critical activities.

• Participate and support ISO/HSSE-MS audits, as well as other related external audits, as part of Company’s HSSE Control framework and management system.
• Identify waste elimination and LEAN maintenance opportunities for maintenance, and work with relevant key stakeholders to implement gap closure plans.
• Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) in compliance with the global maintenance and business processes.
• Carry out any other related duties as required.

The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The key outcome of the research will be the early identification of new pathogens, out of which new diagnostic tests, treatments and control strategies will be developed.

This position is for a full-time Research Fellow / Senior Research Fellow with a strong background in Cell Biology, Genomics and Microbiology/Immunology to work in a dynamic research team focused on bat biology. The candidate is expected to play a critical role in generating and fostering a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research environment by performing a variety of research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate. • Independently carry out the design and execution of high precision in vitro and in vivo experiments related to pathogenesis and host immune response of influenza or other respiratory pathogens.

Associate Scientist (Synthesis)

Our Singapore Research & Development facility is currently searching for an Associate Scientist (Synthesis) with outstanding credentials to support NEO Chemicals and Oxides division’s aggressive growth strategy in the development and application of new generation materials for a wide range of industrial markets such as automotive, consumer electronics, water purification and healthcare.

The selected candidate will participate in several projects to support the above-mentioned sectors. This position will be offered to the individual who has the appropriate background and is able to combine scientific, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills in order to timely deliver commercially successful products.

Materials research focused, specific accountabilities will be to:

• Carry out experiments to support the development of new and technically innovative solutions which would positively impact the production
• Perform chemical and physical characterization of synthesized materials according to procedures and protocol
• Assist the scale-up of materials from bench to pilot-plant and assist in their implementation to full production
• Prepare quality and detailed technical reports and their effective communication to management through oral or written presentations
• Promote a laboratory culture of ‘safety first’ at all times, to be active in safety meetings and continue NEO ’s excellence in safety performance

Key qualifications and experience required for this position include:

• Preferably at least 2 years of relevant work experience with good Bachelor’s degree or MSc in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
• Prior work experience in inorganic chemistry is preferred
• Self-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities
• Good attention to detail and solution oriented, with the ability to be both strategic and ‘hands on’ to overcome challenges in an effective and timely manner
• Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate scientific concepts to internal and external audiences
• Ability to speak Mandarin in a scientific environment is an added advantage
