What can you expect?

The Mining Industry Leader is expected to lead, develop and drive the Mining Industry Practice in Asia. The key purpose of the role is to bring a deep knowledge and understanding of the Mining sector in Asia to cement Marsh’s credentials as risk advisor of the future. The incumbent will also provide the ability to share global best practices with the firm’s clients and prospects, identify their needs and match those with MMC solutions. The role will also focus on the following.

• Driving consistent revenue growth and support colleague understanding of their client’s businesses. Leading delivery for the sector across all client segments of the firm
• Positively challenge client service teams to drive innovation and improvement.
• Setting the vision for the mining practice and lead/motivate colleagues to optimize its potential.
• Leading and taking personal ownership of the largest clients and prospects.
• Securing the trust and confidence of in-country teams, the global mining network and the insurance markets.

We will count on you to:

• Deliver year on year client service revenue growth for the mining industry, owning the regional mining budget.
• Develop, communicate, and promote internally and externally the core Mining value proposition
• Lead and maintain a one-to-three-year strategy plan for existing and prospect clients, with particular emphasis on the core clients for the practice.
• Lead from the front with client and sales teams when deploying Mining industry capability and knowledge in support of retention and growth
• Foster Collateral and Thought Leadership through the engagement and direction of the Knowledge Management team. Deliver a suite of collateral (Thought Leadership, Advisers, Newsletters et al) through a defined annual marketing plan supported by marketing campaigns and client events and roundtables
• Drive and support the development of an industry-specific product suite and consider new product innovations based on emerging client needs
• Ensure a link, collaboration, and alignment with Marsh as well as Marsh McLennan international industry leadership and associated propositions
• Build external practice profile by targeting influential sector associations and industry bodies, consulting organization, legal firms, and others.
• Build knowledge of insurer industry propositions and how they can support Marsh strategy
• Support, coach and/or mentor practice members in their learning and development; building capabilities in both the region and countries.
• Build and develop a colleague community around Mining comprising highly credentialed industry or technical experts, client management, product line placement expertise. Form a high performing team that can work effectively with in-country teams and represent a market leading specialist team.

What you need to have:

• Undergraduate degree qualifications in a relevant field
• Strong working knowledge of Mining industry and key exposures within the sector including trends and potential future directions and developments.
• Relevant industry experience is required. Experience in Mining operations or consulting are essential. Experience in risk management or similar within the industry is also essential. Insurance broking background is preferred.
• Exposure to risk assessment driven decision-making is essential - relevant to field of expertise.
• Internal or consulting experience in the Mining sector and advising business or clients on best practices with regards to risk management, risk engineering and operations.
• Experience in marketing of risk engineering practice and wider consulting capabilities to key business clients and prospects.
• Client servicing and satisfaction, whether internal or external.
