The ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) is an international organization established to contribute to the macroeconomic and financial resilience and stability of the ASEAN+3 region – comprising 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and China; Hong Kong, China; Japan; and Korea – through macroeconomic surveillance, supporting regional financing arrangements (RFAs), and providing technical assistance (TA) to members. AMRO is seeking a dynamic and highly qualified professional for the position of Chief Economist. Under the supervision of the AMRO Director, this senior management role is critical in leading AMRO’s country and regional surveillance, advancing its research capabilities, and developing AMRO’s support function for the effective implementation of the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralisation (CMIM).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Chief Economist will report to AMRO Director, and perform the following functions:

• a) Lead and supervise the planning and implementation of AMRO's country and regional surveillance and related research activities (such as ensuring the quality and timely delivery of surveillance and related research assignments, developing the frontier insights, including forward-looking analysis and policy implication as well as recommendation, on issues related to economic and financial stability in the region).
• b) Lead and supervise the planning, development and implementation of analytical frameworks and toolkits for country and regional surveillance and related research.

QUALIFICATIONS

Successful candidates should possess:

a) Excellent educational background

b) Prominent professional career and expertise in macroeconomics research or other related fields

e) Considerable experience in managing and leading a diverse team of economists with different cultural backgrounds and/or demonstrated international experience in working in a multicultural environment, such as international organizations.

Requirments

• Diploma/Degree in any discipline
• Relevant working experience in the hospitality industry would be preferred
• Strong customer service skill and ability to handle demanding customers
• Good communication skills and able to speak Japanese to service Japanese clients and correspond with Japanese HQ.

Role

Be a part of the Corporate Secretarial team leaders who work closely with and assist the Head of Department (“HOD”) to independently provide Corporate Secretarial services to clients. The incumbent will also contribute to the development and implementation of the Corporate Secretarial strategies as well as management of the Corporate Secretarial team, facilitation, and activities with the Company.

Job scope

• Handle full spectrum of corporate secretarial duties including acting as named secretary for a portfolio of clients, company incorporations, preparation, and review of directors’/ shareholders’ resolutions, liaising with Registered Agent for incorporation of offshore companies, etc.
• Attend board meeting of clients, writing of minutes, etc
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements including meeting deadlines
• Onboard new clients in accordance with policies and procedures
• Organise and co-ordinate board meetings and preparation of board papers for clients
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently and accurately as well as the ability to follow up on pending items in a timely manner
• Liaise with external parties such as other corporate secretarial service providers, notary offices, etc including with cross-department colleagues
• Lead and manage a team of corporate secretarial assistants
• Involve in staff recruitment, mentoring, and development activities
• Groom, coach, and train team members to enable them to carry out their roles effectively and efficiently
• To identify and highlight potential risks to HOD and recommend/take appropriate actions

Requirements:

• ICSA qualified Chartered Secretary or equivalent related qualification with at least 5 years of relevant and related working experience. Prior work experience in a corporate service provider and understanding of Trusts will be advantageous
• Experience in public unlisted entities and non-profit organisations will be a plus
• Good knowledge of relevant provisions of the Singapore Companies Act and Practices, AML/CFT requirements of registered filing agents, ACRA Bizfile and e-stamping
• Proficient in MS Office Skills and familiar with Corporate Secretarial software such as Viewpoint is an advantage
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
• Ability to build team rapport with a willingness in sharing knowledge
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and meticulous
