Forensic Accountant

The Forensic Accounting team is a key business unit within the Claims Solutions practice and is a specialised practice devoted to providing expert Insurance related Accounting and Analytical services.
• We are recognised as global leaders in our field of pre-loss consulting and post-event claims preparation, in the areas of Property Damage, Business Interruption, Product Recall and Cyber.
• This position is for a developing professional who works under supervision to analyse financial data and build financial models that capture and quantify financial exposures. This position partners with senior consultants to manage a variety of Forensic Accounting tasks with a primary focus on the communication of financial data to key stakeholders.
• Furthermore, the role is to help provide expert technical and strategic advice to assist our clients in mitigating their risk exposures.

We will count on you to:

• Analyse and validating financial and accounting data from clients
• Work on Financial Modelling
• Prepare loss analysis
• Develop an understanding of insurance policies and help to provide solutions to client risk management needs
• Assist the Engagement Manager to prepare, negotiate and settle insurance claims.
• Write effective client communication materials under supervision – reports, slides decks & client emails
• Take responsibility for own fieldwork in a timely manner in consultation with engagement manager
• Work with the engagement team and learn to help identify and address key technical aspects of the
• engagement
• Learn to develop strong relationships with clients, insurers and internal Marsh team
• Seek opportunities to identify proposal leads in consultation with relevant stakeholders
• Deliver work within established budgets, timeframes and deadlines
• Assist to prepare project proposals, plans and reports to ensure project is delivered according to the project plan

What you need to have:

• Relevant tertiary education and/or forensic accounting qualification
• 2 to 3 years of relevant experience
• Relevant industry experience in insurance or audit firms preferred
• Competent in Microsoft Office and other relevant business software.

• Act in a key support role for assigned projects.   
• Establish and facilitate regular project meetings.

  • Coordinate team of surveyors and/or vendors to conduct field data collection as per NIQ Standards and documented processes and procedures 
  • Travel island-wide to provide guidance and fieldwork shadowing to the field surveyors   
  • Provide deserved recognition and ongoing performance feedback to surveyors to improve their morale and motivation, and encourage continuous improvement 
• Design fieldwork schedule to align resource allocation and timeline. 
• Proactively identify and manage the resolution of risks and issues that may negatively impact fieldwork deliverables. 
• Support/deploy business continuity plans to enable recovery from an emergency or disaster. 
• Documents, shares, and leverages project lessons learned and promotes best practices for continuous improvement. 
• Ensure all internal systems and documentation are updated in a timely manner.

Jobs Description

As an Accountant at IFS you will be expected to:

• Support the month end closing processes responsible for accurate and timely closing.
• Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of legal entity balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support the monthly forecast process.
• Cashflow Reporting.
• Support in the monthly payroll processing cycle.
• Trial balance review and analysis.
• Tax & Regulatory Requirements.
• Support annual audit process for all legal entities.

The core areas of responsibility will be focused around:

General Ledger & Month End Closing

• Ensure that all month end closing activities are completed in an accurate manner, in accordance with Group closing timelines and processes.
• Ensure that all revenue streams are appropriately accounted for and relevant analysis and outputs are reconciled.
• Complete cost centre analysis for all revenue and direct costs on a monthly basis.
• Processing of monthly payroll entries.
• Review and post all entries related to provisions and accruals, maintaining appropriate reconciliations accordingly.
• Manage the submission of monthly corporate reporting requirements (cash & balance sheet submissions)
• Ensure compliance with IFRS 9, 15 & 16.
• Review, compile and post journal entries- Ensure adequate supporting documentation and proper coding of transactions.
• Manage employee expense claim processes.
• Manage/maintain inter-company transactions.
• Bank reconciliations.

Balance Sheet

• Monthly preparation & presentation of balance sheet reconciliation schedules.
• Review and maintain provisions for employee related costs.
• Reconciling AR & AP schedules with customer/supplier schedules.
• Financial audit participation and preparation of required audit support schedules.
• Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies and procedures
• Provide various ad-hoc analysis
• Reconcile prepaid, accrued liabilities, intercompany and other assigned balance sheet accounts and accruals.
• Validation of tax liabilities, ensuring appropriate costs are recognized in the appropriate period.

Tax & Regulatory Filings

• Corporate tax, GST, withholding tax any other Tax filings. Providing appropriate supporting documentation and analysis as required.
• Support in the submission of any corporate secretarial, bank, KYC, government survey documentation.
• Support with any regulatory reporting requirements.

Audit

• Liaising with the auditors for audit planning and execution
• To verify and ensure timely required information are provided
• To ensure smooth quarterly/ annual Audit within the time frame.

Business Partnering

• Provide analysis and commentary to variance analysis for actual versus forecast and budget
• Support quote-to-cash team on maintenance renewals process, follow up with Account Receviables
• To verify and ensure timely required information are provided to Sales team

Special Projects or Any Other Matters

• Support the transition from local accounting to process ownership accounting model for ASEAN & Indirect Markets
• Participate in any process or system improvement projects within ASEAN & Indirect Markets
• Cover for other accountants or analysts within the market units when they are on leave
• Any other matters or tasks as assigned

Team Summary

The Expense & Investment team is part of the Financial Planning & Analysis team. We are a group of finance business partners supporting various Business Functions.  This role supports the Products & Solutions function to drive Value Added Services

What a Senior Financial Analyst does at Visa:

• Support the budgeting, forecasting and multi year planning process for the Business Function teams in AP. Provide guidance to Business Functions to achieve realistic and timely forecasts. Support the business and finance teams in the preparation of budget and forecast reports to support management review of financial outcomes
• Review forecast and budget submissions and perform an independent challenge to improve accuracy of forecasts. Analyze spending trends and recommend to Finance management a handicap to forecasts if required
• Provide advisory and consultative support to Business Function teams on finance related areas and bring financial discipline in investment decisions
• Maintain templates to track revenue, incentives and expenses.  Prepare reports to evaluate business performance to forecast and budgets
• Build financial models and provide projections using historical data, industry assumptions and metrics. Prepare ad hoc business cases & analysis
• Acquire and maintain a deep understanding of the strategies, priorities, and issues related to the assigned functional areas
• Collaborates easily and successfully with all levels of management in a matrix organization structure
