CLINICAL

Physiotherapy Assessment includes

• The examination of patients to evaluate functional ability in terms of mobility, transfers, and ambulation.
• The identification of potential impairments, movement, and functional limitations.
• The planning of appropriate goals, treatment plan and timeframe.
• Implementation of treatment plan. Re-evaluate and modify treatment as required.

Physiotherapy intervention is planned based on patient’s condition and may include

• Manual therapy techniques including manual therapy and airway clearance techniques.
• Physical, electro-therapeutic and mechanical agents such as ultrasound, mechanical traction, electrical stimulation, short wave diathermy, hydrocollators, wax therapy, cryotherapy, biofeedback, and compression pump therapy.
• Functional training such as prescription of specific therapeutic exercises through use of exercise equipment, muscle re-education, gait training, balance training and postural training.
• Provision of walking aids and assistive devices as indicated.
• Patient education and professional communication with patient, caregivers, medical practitioners, and other allied healthcare workers.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
