Role Purpose (Why do we need this role?)
The Change Enablement Manager ensures the consistent application of best practice Change Management activities across Programme Management, Business Excellence, Technology and beyond, to drive the realisation of the organisation’s strategic objectives. This role is not only responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving the Transformation Division’s suite of Change Management methodologies, but to also support practical coaching and mentoring, embedding Change Management as a normalised activity, and realising genuine mindset shifts across the organisation. The Change Enablement Manager will positively and constructively challenge our teams to think differently and drive change.
As primarily an enabler for change by supporting peers who will interface with business-facing teams, the Change Enablement Manager is also directly responsible for certain Change Management activities deemed to be of high strategic significance, such as Change Management for certain Transformation related activities, and during strategic reviews of Departments and Business Units.
Role Accountabilities (What is this role responsible for delivering?)
Safety
- Take responsibility for the safety of myself and those around me by displaying safety leadership principles (i.e. Safety I’s & Accountability ladder).
- Challenging and stopping unsafe acts and behaviours or unsafe conditions.
- Comply with the Global Safety Standards, Polices and Operating Procedures
- Ensure that all methodologies developed comply with Swire Shipping’s safety policies and procedures, as well as industry standards.
Methodology Development and Governance
- Develop and govern comprehensive methodologies for Change Management
- Integrate one or more methodologies (such as Prosci, Kotter’s 8-Step Change Model, Lewin etc) into Transformation Division’s way of working to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability in change initiatives delivered.
- Introduce and maintain a suite of documentation, technology and presentation materials.
Change Enablement
- Provide advisory and coaching support to Transformation Division peers (BE, PMO, Technology & SDC) and leaders within the wider organisation, not just on method but on wider Change Management activities such as best practice engagement and stakeholder management strategies
- Peers leading change must feel equipped and empowered to tackle change activities on their own, and have the Change Enablement Manager to provide back-end support
- It is important that the Change Enablement Manager uses their time carefully to ensure that attention is given to the most mission-critical initiatives, and many light-touch interactions can be expected
Change Leadership
- Take direct responsibility for the Change Management of a small number specific complex or challenging transformation projects, at the request of management
- Such situations will require the Change Enablement Manager to demonstrate best practice for Change Management
- The role must be able to demonstrate leadership by constructively engaging with senior leaders to change mindsets and achieve the necessary shifts in perspectives, whilst maintaining rapport.
Training & Community of Practice
- Collaborate with the People Division to deliver Change Management training to key business-facing colleagues
- Engage with external partners to support training and stay updated on industry best practices.
- Create community of practice for embedding Change Management mindset within the organisation
- Lead the development of internal capabilities through training, mentoring, and hands-on guidance.
- Identify skill gaps and offer tailored development programs to enhance Change Management competencies.
Key Qualifications & Skills (What knowledge will ensure success in the role?)
Qualifications & Skills
- Deep Change Management Expertise: Proven experience in Change Management methodologies (Prosci, Kotter, Lewin, Lean).
- Leadership and Collaboration: Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor teams across the organisation and collaborate with senior leaders to ensure alignment with strategic goals. Ability to challenge the status quo.
- Training and Capability Building: Expertise in delivering tailored training programs, identifying skill gaps, and building organizational capabilities.
- Change Management and Problem-Solving: Ability to guide teams through complex change processes and proactively solve problems, improving methodologies and processes.
- Risk and Stakeholder Management: Strong risk management and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to oversee risks and ensure project alignment with organizational priorities.
- 10+ years in Change Management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; advanced certifications (Prosci, Lean Six Sigma etc) highly desirable.
- Experience in leading transformation projects in a matrixed organization, with a preference for experience in the marine or logistics industry.
