Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Junior Commodities Trader specializing in physical commodities trading to join our Asia team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commodities trading, particularly in the commodities market, and a deep understanding of the Asian market dynamics. This role involves managing the physical commodities trading book, developing and executing trading strategies, and building relationships with key market participants.
Responsibilities:
1. Trading and Risk Management:
· Manage the physical commodities trading book, including executing trades, monitoring positions, and managing risk.
· Develop and implement trading strategies that optimize profitability while managing market risks.
· Monitor market trends, supply and demand dynamics, and price movements to identify trading opportunities.
2. Market Analysis:
· Conduct thorough market analysis to stay informed about market conditions, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
· Prepare and present market reports and insights to senior management and stakeholders.
3. Relationship Building:
· Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and other market participants.
· Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers and customers to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
4. Team Collaboration:
· Work closely with the trading team in Europe and the USA, risk management, operations, and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient trading operations.
Qualifications:
1. Education and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CFA) is a plus.
· Proven experience (5+ years) in commodities trading, with a focus on physical commodities trading in the Asian market.
2. Market Knowledge:
· Deep understanding of the commodities market, including supply chain dynamics, pricing mechanisms, and market participants.
· Strong knowledge of the Asian commodities market and its unique characteristics.
3. Analytical Skills:
· Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret market data and make informed trading decisions.
· Proficiency in using trading platforms, analytical tools, and financial software.
4. Communication and Negotiation Skills:
· Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders.
· Fluency in English and at least one Asian language
5. Risk Management:
· Strong risk management skills, with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate market risks.
· Experience in developing and implementing risk management strategies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a multinational commodities trading firm.
- Familiarity with Asian cultural nuances and business practices.
- Willingness to travel within the Asia region as required.
