The Foundations of Thermodynamics Group is a newly formed group in the School of Humanities at the Nanyang Technological University Singapore led by Nanyang Assistant Professor of Philosophy Eugene Y. S. Chua. Its goal is to provide a space for research on all aspects of the conceptual foundations of thermodynamics, with particular focus on understanding the conceptual foundations of thermodynamics beyond the classical domain, e.g., in the quantum and relativistic domains, how thermodynamics relates to other non-fundamental domains such as fluid dynamics and neuroscience, and how it bears on questions in philosophy such as (but not limited to) questions about emergence, reduction, inter-theory relations, the nature of non-fundamental reality, the laws of nature, and the relation between symmetries and reality.

The group is seeking applications for a Research Fellow position on a 2 year contract. Successful candidates will carry out research which contributes to the group’s goals, primarily collaborating with Asst. Prof. Chua on ongoing projects while developing their own independent research projects. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in philosophy or physics, a strong research track record, a concrete proposal for a research project related to the Group’s interests, and excellent communication skills.

6. Lead a team of WSH Co-ordinators to ensure strict compliance of procedures in statutory workplace, safety, health & environment requirements at sites and required premises.
7. Preparation and/or submission of MSRA, safety reports and necessary audits.
8. Assist the company in safety related certifications and awareness such as safety audits, ISO & Bizsafe audits, etc
9. Attend client/consultant safety meetings/weekly coordination meetings & technical meetings.
10. Lead investigation and maintain records for every first aid case, accident and near miss at the work site.
11. Conduct emergency drills periodically.
12. Any other ad hoc duties assigned by management.

Job Description

• Model and project the long-term trends of key electric vehicle metrics. Validate results.
• Apply statistical and machine learning models to understand battery production quality metrics.
• Contribute to analytics forums and cross-functional groups by sharing learning within and beyond Global Battery Engineering and Automotive Engineering for PSV operation.

Job Requirement

• Any qualification in Automotive/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Analytics.
• Minimum technical knowledge of data analysis methods and success in solving complex problems.
• Proficiency using relevant tools. (Python, Spark, Hive, MATLAB, Power BI, R).
• Real-world experience using Hive to query Hadoop data file structures.
• Practical knowledge of machine learning and predictive methods.
