Job Description
· Preparation of food ingredients for cookery lessons.
· Take in the day’s food orders delivered. Put food orders on trays for the respective teachers. Clear unwanted packaging or boxes by same day.
· Teachers will brief kitchen helper on the week’s practical lessons and give recipe and sample of layout so that kitchen helper can start preparations for the morning classes.
· Fill up the soaps, check the cutlery and equipments are in place for each unit.
· Assist teachers during lessons such as replenish items, and assist students with cookers, ovens, grill, blenders, steamers, mop spills, etc.
· After lessons, kitchen helper is to help clean up and stock check food items for kitchen and carry forward leftovers. Prepare for late morning’s lessons where needed.
· After lessons, check all cookers are switched off, sinks are clean, cookers are clean and rubbish is disposed of by the same day. Clear the centre store table by the same day.
· Check In-tray for additional instructions for the day and put in Out-tray when completed.
· Fax food orders (if any) before 2pm of each day and call the Authority’s appointed food supplier to confirm receipt of order. Leave the faxed order forms in teacher’s tray in office.
Requirements
· At least 1 year of experience working in a kitchen environment.
· Shall have Basic Food Hygiene or Food Handling Course Certificate.
Working hours
· Mondays to Fridays: 7.30am to 11.30am inclusive of 0.5hr lunch break
· Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays
· Services of personnel are not required during June, November and December holidays except for last week of December.
