QC Lab Analyst - Raw Materials (Method Validation/ Verification/ Pharma)

12 Months Contract

Up to $8,000 depending on experience

Our client aims at creating a new manufacturing concept consisting of a new generation of evolutive multi-product facilities, modular, adaptable, and agile, leveraging new disruptive technologies, to better address vaccine business challenges.

Responsibilities:

• Author method validation protocols and execute method validation/ verification for raw material testing.
• Support the laboratory start-up activities, participate in equipment qualification activities including (but not limited to) generation of user requirement specifications, SOPs and configuration specifications.
• Perform QC test for raw material samples including compendial tests and identification tests.
• Perform QC sampling of incoming raw materials.
• Author/ revise raw material specification and other QC related documents.
• Support laboratory activities such as housekeeping and equipment maintenance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biology or related life Sciences or Technology with at least 5-7 years of experience in QC raw material testing.
• Experience in method validation/ verification in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
• Good understanding of good laboratory practices, good documentation practice and data integrity requirements.
• Experienced in routine laboratory operations.
• Experienced/ participated in method transfer, method validation and method verification for raw material testing.
• Experienced in start-ups will be ideal

We now seek a Research Fellow to join the team of Prof. Ashok Venkitaraman. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with a world-leading cancer researcher to undertake pioneering research on the role of genome instability in human carcinogenesis (eg., see Venkitaraman Science (2014) PMID:24675954 and Venkitaraman DNA Repair (2019) PMID:31337537).

The role will provide expertise in the establishment, genetic manipulation and maintenance of human and murine cell cultures, performance of animal work as well as design/ perform and analyse work within the project parameters.

Research:

design, perform and analyse work with mouse models
to carry out assigned molecular and cell biology experiments (i.e. cloning, FACS, western blotting, RNA, sequencing, microscopy) and perform analysis and determinations as tasked
to organise, preserve and present the results of the experiments in a logical manner
to properly and systematically record all experiments that have been assigned and their results

Lab Management:

maintain up to date records of inventories for chemical/ biological reagents
assist when required with procurement
ensure tidiness and cleanliness of the lab is maintained

Qualifications

• University degree in a relevant field
• Significant amount of experience working with human and/ or murine organoids
• Ability to speak and write clearly in English
• Minimum 2 to 3 years work experience in a molecular biology lab;
• Qualified (RCULA) to work with animal models with practical experience

Knowledge of:

• Basic principles and practices in the fields of biology.
• Principles, techniques and terminology used in cancer biology.
• Methods of scientific research and relevant scientific theories.
• Appropriate computer operations, software and peripherals.
• General rules for safe exposure and handling of chemical and biological hazards
• IRB, HBRA & IACUC regulations
• Principles, techniques and terminology used in organoid model systems and genomic and RNA sequencing as well as common lab molecular and cell biology techniques (desirable)

Ability to:

• Perform laboratory tests in an efficient and timely manner

The successful candidates will be part of their pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers (PO) scheme. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in the institution, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum.

Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the work study programme. Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry.

In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in the institution. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in department, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in the institution.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and teach labs & practice modules.
• Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the internship programme.
• Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry.
• Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research.
• Ensure safety in labs.

Job Requirements

• A good degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications like registered PE would be advantageous.
• Deep technical specialist with 10 or more years of working experience in mechanical design, systems design and integration or related area in mechatronics would be preferred.
• Experience in following areas are highly desirable:

1. Complex Mechanical systems development and integration
2. Material and components selection including working knowledge with integration and selection of components/systems such as actuators, pumps, hydraulics system, PLC/Controls systems
3. CAD software such as SolidWorks
4. Simulation such as Finite element and CFD simulation
5. Hands-on prototyping and fabrication skills to guide students in labs

• It will be advantageous with working knowledge of; Material testing and material properties; Programming of Control and PLC systems, and/or Software such as Ansys and Abaqus
• Extensive hands-on experience and knowledge of industry practices and engineering principles to bring industry perspective to the institution.
• Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems.
• Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment.
• Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possess industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.
