Responsibilities:

• Manage all legal matters related to the distribution and products for the Wealth and Personal Banking – Insurance (WPB Insurance) business in Singapore.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Major Gas/LNG and Renewable Energy Contracts and LNG SPA Drafting, Review and Negotiation
-Drafting, review and negotiation of contracts, including relating to major gas/LNG and renewable energy projects and LNG SPAs.
- Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a variety of engineering, procurement and construction-related contracts.
- Provide legal support and advice throughout the entire life cycle of large-scale projects: NDAs, bidding/ tendering, contract negotiations and execution phase of large-scale projects (e.g. responding to variation and extension of time claims, claim for liquidated damages etc.).
- Provide sound advice on possible legal risks and provide mitigation solutions for various issues.
- Handle a broad range of general corporate and commercial matters such as drafting, reviewing and negotiating various types of contracts with a view to providing legal advice in order to finalise contracts while protecting the interests of the company.

Conduct of Arbitration, Litigation & Disputes Management
- Strategise and manage disputes, contentious/litigious matters with external counsel and Pacific Energy group management team.
- Experience in supporting M&A transactions, investments and other strategic corporate transactions will be advantageous.

CANDIDATE PROFILE SUMMARY
- LL.B or equivalent Singapore, English or common-law country qualified lawyer from a reputable university.
- Minimum 12 - 15 years PQE, with solid track record / prior experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts relating to gas/LNG and renewable energy projects and LNG SPAs.
- Experience in handling infrastructure project disputes / claims and dispute resolution processes. Experience in working on large-scale projects in the SEA region will be an advantage.
- Must have a strong academic record, analytical and research skills.
- Experience gained either from a reputable international law firm, or in-house position in a multinational company is highly desirable. Candidates with international experience are preferred.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The purpose of the role is to consistently deliver high quality legal services to the CFD and Stockbroking business of CMC Markets in Singapore, and from time-to-time other businesses within the APAC region.

• Assisting Head of Legal (UK) and the wider Senior Management team to deliver the Group’s objectives.
• Line management responsibility for paralegals, trainees and legal counsels engaged by the Legal Team. Carrying out 1-2-1 catchups and appraisals (on an informal basis and, where required, formal basis).
• Assisting with drafting the monthly board report and accompanying documentation.
• Liaising with Global Legal Team to ensure important information is shared.
• Assisting with the provision of invoicing and budgeting information to the Finance Team.
• Assisting the Tax team with engagement letters and other work as required.
• Assisting the Finance / Treasury team with loans, engagement letters and other financing arrangements (such as facility agreements).
• Assisting with Prime Brokerage documentation, including ISDA documentation.
• Assisting Compliance with complaints (where required), financial promotions regulatory issues and rule changes that may affect CMC’s terms of business.
• Assisting the Operations Team with any project work relating to retail and corporate applications.
