The Role

This is a full time role for 6 months and will involve working with partners and other colleagues across the firm on high value, complex international arbitration cases. Responsibilities will include:

• Conducting research, reviewing documents, drafting advice, correspondence and pleadings, gathering evidence and assisting with the preparation of witness and expert evidence, in relation to such proceedings.
• Assisting with advising and representing clients in, and in relation to, commercial arbitration, investment treaty arbitration and public international law matters.
• Liaising with clients, witnesses and experts, tribunals, and opposing counsel.

Skills and Knowledge

Competitive candidates will be a recent LLM graduate or qualified junior lawyer in any jurisdiction, and will possess:

• An excellent academic background.
• Experience at some level of international arbitration ideally within a leading dispute resolution practice, chambers or other related organisation.
• Experience working on high value, complex international investment and/or commercial arbitration (highly desirable).
• A proven ability to understand and investigate complex technical matters and a desire to practice as a specialist arbitration lawyer.
• Full business proficiency in English; additional foreign language skills are highly desirable.
• The ability to write clearly and economically, to orally present a client’s case confidently, succinctly and persuasively, while maintaining accuracy and credibility with a tribunal.
• The ability to identify relevant lines of research, select appropriate sources and tools, and implement rapidly with appropriate levels of depth, care, and creativity.
• The ability to analyse complex legal and factual problems and to identify challenges and solutions to a client’s case, with a strong understanding of the substantive and procedural aspects of contract and treaty arbitration law and practice.
• The ability to manage competing demands and work effectively to meet deadlines using commercially sound management practices that serve the best interests of the firm and its clients, ensuring exceptional attentional to detail in all work.

• Review and compare samples and artworks to ensure they align with project timelines and quality standards.
• Monitor the progress of deliverables, ensuring adherence to deadlines, and flagging discrepancies or delays.
• Identify potential roadblocks or issues in the workflow and escalate them to the relevant team members or managers promptly.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address challenges and provide updates on project status, ensuring smooth progress and timely resolution of any concerns.

This role is responsible for providing legal, contractual and commercial advice for our company and its affiliates business in the APAC region, ensuring expertise in the areas of law, risks and compliance. This role would be supporting our business across locations, service offerings and industries with a particular focus on commercial and contractual aspects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and drive day-to-day Legal operations excellence through effective development and reviews of key Legal operations metrics
• Advise on contractual and commercial matters and legal issues involving governmental and regulatory law
• Review, negotiate and manage commercial contracts with internal and external stakeholders
• Manage any customer, vendor, employment or any other disputes for the company
• Provide advice to management and human resources on employment matters
• Guide and support lines of business on legal and regulatory requirements
• Respond to ad hoc queries to include identification, analysis and evaluation of risks in order to provide appropriate legal solutions
• Work closely with other lawyers across the organization and coordinate legal matters handled by external counsels
• Work with the regional and global teams to identify common concerns establish common standards and educate business on best practices in the region
• Collaborate with the legal department, internal audit and human resources as appropriate to investigate allegations of unethical behavior or other violations of Infosys policies recommend appropriate disciplinary and/or remedial measures and ensure such measures are promptly implemented
• Work closely with the company leadership regarding the relevant commercial and legal areas that affect their areas of business

Requirements

• Degree holder
• Qualified to practice law in Singapore
• At least 8 years of legal experience, preferably as an in-house lawyer or in combination with a law firm

• Deep knowledge of laws of Singapore and experience in Information Technology Industry

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Research

a. Conduct research related to the development of the group sustainability strategy across our different verticals

b. Contribute to analysis and deep dives into topics that are related to social issues (example, community engagement, human rights, employee welfare), and/or environmental issues (example, energy management, emissions, waste management)

c. Stay abreast of sustainability trends and prepare monthly sustainability newsletter

2. Implementation

a. Handle the ongoing rollout of Sustainability initiatives at our Singapore office: desk research, feasibility studies, employee engagement, small event management, etc. Focus areas (non-exhaustive list): Scope 3 emissions, waste and water management, employee welfare, and green procurement.

3. Data Management

a. Support on migrating information to group-wide software

b. Prepare and enter data for Singapore Office

c. Support with basic data auditing

4. Coordination:

a. Internal sustainability-related communication and meeting coordination with our Business Units and external parties

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

• Fluent in written and spoken English

• Good command of IT, including proficiency in MS Office, Canva
