The main responsibilities and tasks of this position are listed as, but not limited to the following:

• To ensure compliance of Hotel Security Policies and Procedures
• To assume full responsibilities during shift and to supervise team members in their job and discipline
• To keep abreast of developments within the hotel and community as they relate to security
• To have a clear understanding in current and amended laws, employee’s handbook and all new policies and procedures which may be issued from time to time by the management
• To take active role in the implementation of the hotel’s fire plan including use of fire extinguishers and fire fighting peripherals, rendering first aid and duties as member of H.E.A.T.
• To maintain high self-discipline and self-motivation
• To execute all tasks of a Security Officer.
• To conduct briefing for each shift, covering security information, important events or any other matter arising.
• To manage and assume full responsibility for the department in the absence of the Supervisor / Manager.
• To document all incidents occurring in the hotel in connection with crime, subversions, potential liabilities and insurance requirements.
• To control the keys, lock system, alarm system and fire protection system.
• To make recommendations to the superiors on security related matters.
• To respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
• To observe grooming policy as laid out in the employee’s handbook, as well as those set out by the department.
• To cooperate efficiently with all departments within the hotel directly or indirectly involved with the Security Department.
• To counsel subordinates immediately if they show signs of decline in work performance and if beyond control, refer the matter to Supervisor / Manager.
• To perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Management.

Primary Purpose of Role

The primary purpose of this role is to ensure commercially focused, practical legal advice is provided across a scope of work including corporate, financial services, (re) insurance broking, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and information technology matters, including the provision of strategic advice to the Gallagher Asia–Pac Executive team and the broader Gallagher group legal teams.

This role will be based in Singapore and will work with Gallagher’s other offices in Asia, including, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Philippines. This role will be responsible for working with the Head of Legal, Asia Pacific to assist key stakeholders across the business, including senior leaders and executive team members, Compliance, Risk and Assurance functions, the Human Resources team and broking services teams.

This role will be responsible for managing legal risk and providing commercial, practical and strategic advice to key stakeholders at all levels of seniority. The legal counsel will assist the business to proactively identify and respond to relevant legislative and regulatory change and advise on operational issues and strategic project work for the organisation.

Key Accountabilities

• Assist in negotiating and reviewing a variety of commercial contracts with third parties from inception/renewal through to execution
• Offer specialist and strategic legal advice to stakeholders on a wide range of matters
• Providing legal advice on employment law matters
• Providing merger & acquisition (M&A) transaction support, including negotiation of M&A transactions (as required) with assistance from external legal panel of firms
• Ensuring solid commercial management of dispute and litigation matters and legal briefs from the business with assistance from external legal panel of firms (where necessary), including appropriate escalation and reporting within the business
• Drafting new contract templates for the organisation
• Provide advice on changing legislation that is relevant to the business and proactively support the implementation of these changes across the business
• Effectively manage key stakeholder relationships with internal clients and external advisers in the evaluation, structuring, delivery and documentation of future business opportunities and services
• Ensuring that Gallagher remains fully informed and receptive to change by monitoring industry/market and legal trends and providing recommendations for change strategies

Qualifications & Education

• Qualified lawyer with PQE 10 years plus years tertiary qualifications in law
• Previous experience working within the insurance industry with (re) insurance broking experience advantageous
• Relevant experience with working with senior leaders and executive team members
• Relevant experience with working in an in-house legal environment
• Relevant experience with working with different jurisdictions
