Role Purpose
We are seeking an Assistant Underwriter to join our Singapore Insurance office. This role offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing the option to work remotely up to two days a week. You will support the Property underwriting team in managing new and existing business written by Everest International Insurance. This opportunity is open to candidates with varying levels of experience, including fresh graduates, and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Key Accountabilities
- Support the Property underwriters in achieving portfolio targets, including assisting with the Japan desk.
- Summarize slip terms and conditions, calculate premiums and exposures, and ensure complete and accurate entry of submissions, quotes, risks, endorsements, and transactions into Everest underwriting systems. Perform necessary data checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with management, statistical, and regulatory reporting standards.
- Store all risk information and correspondence in the document repository to maintain a complete and accurate audit trail of business activity.
- Ensure all relevant underwriting information is included for peer reviews, risk entries, and data checks within designated timeframes. Index and update electronically submitted underwriting information as appropriate.
- Manage processing, catastrophe modeling, and management reporting to a high standard.
- Maintain tools containing key underwriting information to facilitate compliance with sanctions, fraud prevention, and financial crime checks before and after binding coverage.
- Assist underwriters with the underwriting process, production of management information, business development, and marketing initiatives.
- Provide administrative support to underwriters and the Operations team, including handling credit control queries, data quality checks, and process improvements.
- Provide support to underwriting teams in other lines of business as needed.
- Perform any other ad hoc tasks as defined and agreed upon with the Head of Property.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Professionalism in interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with underwriting and facultative insurance and reinsurance processes.
- Knowledge of Property underwriting is preferred but not required; open to fresh graduates eager to gain experience.
- Proficiency in Excel, with preference for candidates with backgrounds in actuarial science, accountancy, or engineering.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment and effectively prioritize tasks.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and entrepreneurial, with a commitment to the highest standards of ethics and professionalism.
