Key Responsibilities:
- Fostering an environment of reflective practice and development, leading by example in all aspects of personal and professional development
- Developing and maintaining a culture of high expectations for oneself and others
- Playing an active part in the collaborative working of the School’s Pedagogical Leadership Team, and contributing to the process of strategic pedagogical planning
- Keeping abreast of developments in educational research and best practice, relevant to the specific responsibilities of the role, and advising the Junior School Management Team and Pedagogical Leadership Team of their relevance and potential impact on the school
- Teaching a designated timetable as agreed from time to time
- Contributing to the staff selection and appointment process as required
- Attending School functions as appropriate
- Providing reports to the VP (Head of Junior School) and Principal as and when required
- Undertaking all such supervisory duties as required of members of the Pedagogical Leadership Team
- Working in partnership with the Head of First School, alongside other colleagues and leaders across the school to ensure the effective implementation of the First School Curriculum
- Managing a group of Junior School Heads of Department and Subject Coordinators, as directed by the VP (Head of Junior School), and taking responsibility for Academic Monitoring and Curriculum Review and Development in the relevant subject areas
- Working with Subject Coordinators and other staff to ensure planning, resourcing and delivery of the curriculum in the First School is in keeping with the philosophy and expectations of NLCS [Singapore]
- Developing academic partnerships for First School students, including partnerships with NLCS (UK) and other schools in the NLCS family
- Working in partnership with the Head of First School to develop a shared vision in relation to all aspects of Curriculum development and pedagogical practices within the First School.
- Providing overall pedagogical leadership within the First School to ensure excellent learning and teaching within the programme
- Providing guidance and support to First School teachers whose practice is not meeting NLCS (Singapore) expectations
- Responsibility for all First School curriculum administration
- Responsibility for assessment and reporting within the First School curriculum
- Preparing and efficiently managing annual budgets for the First School curriculum.
- Undertaking strategic review of the First School curriculum, its performance and its contribution to the aims and educational philosophy of the School.
- Monitoring and tracking students’ progress within the First School and co-ordinating interventions when necessary
- Developing and presenting information presentations for First School parents
- Engage in and encourage dialogue and professional development with the AP (Lower School Curriculum), MYP and Diploma programme Coordinators
- Responsibility for ensuring smooth transition from the First School curriculum to the Lower School curriculum.
