Job Description

One Research Engineer position is open in the research group of Assistant Professor Zhao Lin, at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS).

The Research Engineer (will) will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) on reinforcement learning control and learning-based control, which leverage the advantages of both deep learning and conventional controls with theoretical guarantees. The RE will develop AI-assisted planning and control algorithms that enable intelligent and robust autonomous operations and multi-agent collaborations. Hardware experiments will be carried out to test and demonstrate the applications of the developed algorithms.

The initial appointment duration is 12 months, which can then be extended based on an evaluation at the end of the initial appointment.

The research project involves (1) theoretical research in control, learning, and optimization, (2) developing new control and learning algorithms, and (3) 3D Simulations and real hardware experiments.

The candidates should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a reputable university, with expertise in control theory, reinforcement learning theory, and aerial robotics.

A successful candidate should have a solid mathematical background (such as in calculus, linear algebra, ODE/PDE, optimization, real analysis, probability theory, stochastic process, etc). Strong publication records in leading journals and conferences, and practical hands-on experience in applying reinforcement learning to real robotics applications (e.g., autonomous driving and unmanned aerial vehicles) will be a big plus.

As the Research Engineer (Equipment/Operations), you are directly involved in tool installation activities for semiconductor process tools. You would need to work proactively to coordinate with the contractor on the ground for the execution and take corrective and preventive actions of lessons learned, due diligently to prevent reoccurrence. You are responsible for performing utilities turn-on after installation is completed. You’ll be part of Substations Electrical & Mechanical Engineering team where you, together with your colleagues, will contribute to the design, sourcing, integration, and execution of the LV scopes within high-voltage AC and DC substations, both onshore and offshore. You’ll play an important role in:

· verifying the design of LV and utility systems on offshore and onshore substations during all phases from concept to FAT

· participating in project team meetings and proactively cooperating and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders

· taking ownership and delivering technical specifications, employer requirements, and design basis, as well as verifying calculations associated with the LV and utility components for both ONSS and OSS

· ensuring the review of technical documentation provided by contractors

· ensuring that the deliverables from engineering, fabrication, and principal contractors have the right quality according to requirements

· participating in FAT/SAT of main LV and utility systems on onshore and offshore substations to support supervision and commissioning activities as well as handover to our O&M team.

To succeed in the role, you:

· have extensive experience with technical design requirements for LV and utilities, incl. fire alarm system, UPS, lighting system, monitoring systems, switchboard, power management system, etc.,

· are curious and open to new approaches to design processes and able to collaborate with your team members and all stakeholders

· have hands-on experience with tools like ETAP, PowerFactory, DIALux, and ePLAN, as well as extensive experience with relevant international standards

· have a relevant degree or equivalent experience in electrical engineering and are interested in working with electrical design for onshore and offshore substations

· have hands-on experience with LV power system design and studies, calculations, equipment sizing, and specifications.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist the HOD and manager in achieving service goals, targets, and department KPIs.
• Play a vital role in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of medical equipment by developing and implementing programs that minimize disruptions to operations and guarantee equipment functionality.
• Manage maintenance agreements with vendors for the servicing and preventive maintenance of medical equipment.

• Act as a trusted technical consultant to hospital staff, guiding them in defining and evaluating their medical equipment needs.
• Educate and train hospital personnel on the proper handling of medical equipment, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills for optimal use.
• Provide leadership and coordination for the medical equipment management team, overseeing tasks such as commissioning, preventive maintenance, inventory control, and decommissioning.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly reports, annual capital, and operating budgets for the department.
• Ensure BME work activities conform to standards and work practices that the hospital subscribes to - ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, JCI, etc.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronic or Electro-mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
• Relevant industry (healthcare) experience with 3-5 years experience in a similar role
• Good communication and supervisory skills

Requirements :

1) A Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized university or its equivalent recognized by the Professional Engineer Board, Singapore. A diploma holder with design experience will also be considered.

2) Minimum 2 years of design experience in Building projects and/or Earth Retaining Structures.

3) Conversant with local codes and authority submission procedures.

4) Competent in common engineering design software, analytical tools and BIM software.

5) Familiar with precast concrete, post-tensioned concrete and steelwork design, knowledge of MET design will be an advantage.
