Position Summary
The Facility Technician is a vital member of the team responsible for monitoring facilities, utility systems, and equipment within the building, including engineering services and operational manufacturing areas such as clean rooms. They support professional validation processes for operational areas and oversee office, security management services, and cleaning processes essential for supporting the core business functions of the organization. The Facility Technician works closely with the Facility Manager and Engineer to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the facility, providing a conducive working environment for employees and their activities. This is achieved through the implementation of best business practices to manage resources, services, and processes effectively, meeting the organization's needs. This position also involves standby duties and monitoring the reliability of facility operations and building systems.
Your Responsibilities
· Ensure the daily operation of facility systems, including cleanrooms, office and common area, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems, DI water, air compressors, process gas systems, security, pest control, cleaning, and office management, maintaining them in good, healthy, and safe operating condition.
· Identify and troubleshoot root causes of equipment breakdowns during duty hours, implementing appropriate corrective actions to restore normal operations.
· Complete daily tasks as instructed by the Facility Manager (mechanical/electrical), updating daily log sheets with performed activities and any abnormalities observed.
· Conduct daily inspection rounds, routine checks, and manual data logging for facility systems.
· Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities, including ad-hoc tasks during and after working hours, to ensure system reliability. Strictly adhere to work instructions and escalate any identified issues.
· Respond promptly to critical alarms, investigate events, implement corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution in collaboration with quality, production, and facility teams.
· Attend to and address requests or breakdown calls from respective departments.
· Maintain good housekeeping in facilities and ensure adherence to safety practices, including proper handling of keys, tools, documentation, equipment, and other facility-related properties.
· Supervise facility work carried out by contractors, ensuring compliance with the Company’s safety guidelines.
· Provide training and guidance to facility contractors and janitors to achieve department goals for facility and building systems reliability.
· Participate in Quality and EHS audits and periodically review contractor risk assessments while understanding the permit-to-work system.
· Support the Facility Manager in manufacturing facility refurbishments, renovations, and upgrades.
· Monitor the Building Management System (BMS) and Room Monitoring System (RMS), addressing faults and following up with corrective actions for deviations.
· Assist the Facility Manager with building electrical annual shutdown activities and any other requirements from landlord facilities to the production team.
· Help achieve cost and quality objectives, including optimizing energy efficiency at the facility.
· Identify and propose initiatives for utility reduction, employing an end-of-lifecycle upgrading approach.
· Monitor inventory and maintain records of required spare parts, including safety tools.
· Track building utilities such as electricity, water usage, office air conditioning hours, and chilled water usage.
· Perform other ad-hoc maintenance duties (attending breakdown calls, power trips, light replacements, furniture movement, event setup, etc.) as assigned by the Facility Manager.
Your Profile
· Higher Nitec or Diploma in Facilities Management or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
· At least 5 years of work experience related to project management, vendor management, building facilities, and/or maintenance of manufacturing facilities and cleanrooms.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.
· Due to the nature of the mechanical services (systems) involved in this position, experience and knowledge of HVAC, compressed air, process gas, and purified water systems are essential.
· Experience with electrical services (systems), including HV and LV systems and their operation, would be advantageous.
· Knowledge of ISO 13485, SAP, and facility-related regulatory requirements.
· A team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of hands-on work.
· A proactive, "can-do" approach with the ability to work under pressure when necessary.
· Familiarity with FMCS and RMS systems would be advantageous.
