This role requires good organizational/coordination skills and management of the technical aspects of the discipline. Direct contact with the client and vendors will be necessary. The role of the Technical Safety Technical Authority (TA) for Brazil Projects is to:
- Assist to the Lead Technical Safety Engineer to ensure the Contractor’s technical deliverables for both basic engineering and detailed design meet the necessary requirements.
- Act as the expert Technical Authority for Brazil-related matters.
- Provide support to ensure that all contractors, vendors and associated safety studies meet the contractual, Classification Society, Regulatory and technical requirements related to technical safety discipline.
- Travel as required, including but not limited to shipyards in SE Asia region, China, Middle East region, other Yinson Offices (Oslo, Malaysia), candidate vessels (onshore/offshore), operational production units (offshore) and onshore support bases.
- Assist to develop the team of Technical Safety Engineers and act as the Technical Authority for the company in the Brazil region.
- Support business development/tendering, project execution and from time to time, operating units.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform as Technical Safety Technical Authority (TA) for Brazil Projects.
- Ensure that costs to Yinson are minimized and that project schedule is maintained.
- Manage the Safety Studies Contractor and other associated Contractors (where applicable), including Working Environment & Human Factors. Follow-up and monitor Contractor schedule and progress and ensure any deviation is mitigated by corrective action coordinated with YP team.
- Interact with Client and Regulatory Bodies as required.
- Identify and ensure execution of the technical safety scope of work in accordance with the legal obligations, regulatory requirements, contract terms, scope of work, technical requirements and company policy.
- Interact with and support the engineering contractors as required (including Safety Studies, Marine Engineering, Hull Engineering, Topsides Module Engineering, Integration Engineering, LQ Engineering, Shipyard Engineering, etc).
- Achieving resolution of multi-discipline equipment problems by coordinating with other discipline engineers and project engineering management team.
- Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging methodology improvements; and absorbing new practices from clients and partners.
- Engineering problem solving and troubleshooting, even when not directly in own discipline (taking a holistic approach to the project).
- Coordinate discipline issues between client, contractors, vendors and other relevant parties.
- Provide input to weekly/monthly progress reporting and other relevant status information as needed.
- Participate in audits and review processes as necessary
- Interact with non-technical disciplines as required (document control, cost control, planning).
- Other tasks as requested by the VP Engineering or Engineering Manager.
QHSSE Duties – every employee shall:
- Take care of themselves and others who may be affected by their acts or oversights;
- Not interfere with or misuse anything supplied for their health, safety and welfare;
- Report quality related problems and HSSE hazards or deficits within their area to the QHSSE department;
- Promote and take part in the QHSSE continuous improvement process.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in a technical subject.
- Good use of Word and Excel.
- Good use of Navisworks.
- Able to write Technical Reports and Requirements Specifications.
- Experience of FPSO projects in Brazil (10 years).
- Experienced in Technical Safety (15 years).
- Proven experience of reviewing & commenting on deliverables from contractors.
