Continental Steel, a leading steel supplier with over 40 years of experience, is expanding its operations to include a newly established Steel Fibre division. We are seeking a skilled and dynamic individual to operate and maintain the steel wire drawing and fibre forming and cutting machines. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient production, maintaining equipment, and upholding product quality.
Role Summary
The Steel Fibre Division Operator/Technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining steel wire drawing and fibre forming machines within our newly established Steel Fibre division. This role is critical in ensuring efficient production, maintaining equipment, and upholding product quality from raw material processing to final packaging.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Machine Operation and Maintenance:
- Operate and maintain steel wire drawing and fibre forming machines.
- Monitor production processes, troubleshoot issues, and ensure smooth operation.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks.
2. Quality Assurance:
- Uphold product quality standards by following procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify deviations or defects.
- Perform tensile testing on steel fibres to assess their strength and durability.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols.
3. Process Optimization:
- Continuously improve production efficiency and output.
- Participate in process optimization initiatives.
4. Material Handling:
- Handle raw materials, WIP and finished products (steel wire) and ensure proper and safe materials handling.
- Monitor material inventory levels and coordinate with the supply chain/warehouse team.
5. Fibre Forming and Cutting:
- Perform fibre forming to required shape as needed.
- Cut fibres to specified lengths for packaging.
6. Packaging and Final Product:
- Package steel fibres according to guidelines.
- Ensure proper labeling and documentation.
- Collaborate with packaging and logistics teams.
7. Safety and Compliance:
- Participate in safety training and adhere to safety protocols.
- Report any safety incidents promptly.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.
8. Collaboration:
- Work closely with colleagues, including the Production Manager.
- Provide feedback on process improvements and equipment maintenance.
Qualifications:
Education:
- O-Level, ITE or equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum of three years of related experience in manufacturing, preferably in steel production or similar industries is preferred.
- Experience with operating steel wire drawing equipment and maintenance of such equipment.
- Experience with operating butt-welding equipment to join wires.
- Knowledge of consumables used in wire drawing operations like dies, pressure dies, calcium/sodium-based lubricants, etc.
Skills:
- Familiarity with operating and maintaining machinery.
- Basic knowledge of steel processing techniques.
- Ability to use hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficiency in English.

- Relevant certifications related to machinery operation and safety.
